This thread is to motivate board members to submit stuff to Fight On! for all the community to enjoy! Apart from more stuff from the people that contributed to issue nº1, these are things I would really like to see from people who haven't summited yet: - Philotomy's Modern OD&D mod.
- Geoffrey's Carcosa campaign.
- Falconer's middle-earth OD&D mod.
- Gaming musings and reviews by T. Foster.
And many more come to my mind if I just think for a while!

I'd kind of like to see what people are doing with OD&D. Specifically, I'd like to hear from people who are playing it as close to by the book as they can and how that goes. Also, I'd like to hear from people playing variants and how that goes. I don't want to fill the mag up with "lemme tellya 'bout my campaign..." blather, but a quick note here or there to let the rest of us know how it's going wouldn't hurt.

Megadungeon series - either a continuing evolving one - a series of new starting ones - a continuing one that multiple people could contribute to Quick "random" encounter drop-ins (Like Makofan's Grotto from 1, perfect). A Megacity
I'm realizing as I'm typing this that what I'm thinking of is a Fight-On generate campaign world, possibly, or maybe an odd74 campaign world.
imagine us all combining forces to create a world. That would be a lot of firepower.

Gaming musings and reviews by T. Foster. Alas, the formal and impersonal format of writing an article for publication causes my voice to freeze up. I function much better in the informal, personal, and interactive atmosphere of message-board postings. Feeling like I'm writing as part of a free-flowing conversation (directed at a specific audience, and expecting that audience to respond) frees me up whereas feeling like I'm writing something intended to be definitive and unidirectional clams me up, like I'm being overly presumptuous or something.

like I'm being overly presumptuous or something. That's how I feel, too. I'm trying to get together something for publication, but feelings of presumptuousness keep getting in my way.

Just pretend you are only talking to the guys here on the board, everything will work out fine.

Yeah, just write as if it where a post. When the Internet was not there, people "posted" on the magazines.

Foster, if it's any help, I consider you like one of the five most useful posters on the internet. No joke, I always read what you write and you've influenced my thoughts about gaming as much as anyone. So yeah, just write your articles like internet posts, the rest will take care of itself...
Oh, and Geoffrey, your posts show considerable insight too....presumptuous?...this is just a fun thing we're doing together! Let it flow...
Or let's put it this way, these feelings are just going to get harder to deal with as the magazine gets more successful and time goes on. So the best thing to do is nip them in the bud by writing something now!

I agree, Foster; I always read what you have to say, and it's always interesting and thought-provoking (and usually spot-on, IMO -- I can't tell you how many times I've gone to a thread, read your post, and thought "hmmm, guess I'll 'me too' what Foster said...") Regarding the modern D&D thing, that's not really "mine," it's just an old concept that I jumped on with enthusiasm. I think for many years, I've tended towards the "this is a serious fantasy game" approach with D&D (e.g. frowning on things like Expedition to the Barrier Peaks), but playing OD&D has broadened my horizons. I've started embracing what Jeff calls the "stupid" in RPGs, and having a really good time with that. So the "modern megadungeon" thing really grabbed me; it's something I *never* would have gone for, a few years ago. I do plan on submitting to Fight On!, but I'm not sure it will be for the second issue, or not.

Foster, if it's any help, I consider you like one of the five most useful posters on the internet. I'll put my hand up and say this is true for me too. I'm amazed at the amount of times I've been trawling through old threads, read a post that really impressed me and when I look to see who wrote it - T. Foster! Please don't sell yourself (or us) short, consider writing for the zine. Dave

I'm gonna jump on the Foster bandwagon, too. You could just take some of your posts on this and other boards and string them together -- maybe make a column of them. It would be handy to have many of your comments together in one spot.

I'm full of wacky self-contained ideas like my Nasty Node; I don't mind doing those if there is an interest. They are very unsophisticated, but also very old-school

To all: be presumptious, be bold, be daring. Go out on a limb. Don't hold back. The zine will only be the better for it.

Hey Cal, Greyharp suggested I shoot over here and check out Fight On! development in person to see the focus. This is the first time I've been to this site (I only have time for K&K and my online OSU game presently). A quick scan suggests you guys are on the same page as me (and I imagine the same page as most of the K&K guys).
Some of the confusion and massive apprehension (on our part) results from nasty past of betrayal. After leaving 3 or 4 places as a community (most of us started out at DF) we finally settled down at K&K with, I'm afraid, a bit of a jaded and "shoot first and ask questions later" attitude (with anything that looks suspicious). When I saw your inclusion of C&C, and then an aloofness to public discussion, I suspected the worst. My mistake I'm happy to discover.
Anyhow, I'd like to see Foster musings included as well. Perhaps you could work something out like an interview or live chat and then just cut and paste it in. The other thing I'd love to see (obviously) is OSRIC as your base system you convert too, or if not that S&W or at the very least the OGL. Conversions are going to get very problematic when it comes to spells and monsters (never mind just the basic stuff). I'm not sure if its permissable but maybe you could just include all the OGLs for each issue in the back of the publication (in as tiny of print as you can get by with) and just refer the reader to that appropriate page.
Besides that, keep your antenna open for D20 stuff sneaking in (philosophy, artwork, concepts etc.) regardless the system. Good luck and Fight On!
PS, And if anyone is going to create a dungeon for fight on and wants to throw in some unusual monsters, please feel free to use any of my Monsters of Myth monsters. My apprehension was related to our monsters being cut and pasted into some D20 crap lock stock and barrel, and sold on the net, not to sincere old school guys. And if any of you guys see a monster in there you want to use and its not mine, please just hop over to K&K and ask in general if you can use it. I'm sure the creator will pop in and most likely allow it.

Hi Axe!
Thanks for the offer. I heard you were a pretty good artist...if you had anything lying around, we'd take it, for sure...
Anyway, welcome to the boards, and good to hear from you here!
