During a recent session of mass character creation, I found buying equipment to be the most tedious aspect. The "quick start" lists in the book are great for the basic classes, but they don't necessarily work for all of the subclasses. So I made some "quick start" equipment lists suitable for all 22 classes and subclasses. Each list is worth 110 gold or thereabouts, meaning that classes that can't wear armor are well-equipped with things like silver weapons, incendiary oil, and holy water; that seems fair enough to me. These lists were created strictly using the prices in the rulebook and contain no "humorous" items (despite strong temptation to the contrary). Weight for each list is given, rounded up to the next pound.

I'm currently working on a modular version consisting of different "kits" (Basic Adventuring Gear, Basic Fighter Gear, Basic Thief Gear, etc.) so the player can mix and match based on available money and class restrictions. It will hopefully allow for more flexibility, while still greatly speeding the process of equipping a character.
But I haven't abandoned it.
