Hi guys -
First, I want to let everyone know that the second issue is going to be absolutely fantastic. We have some amazing contributions from issue 1 folks and from some new folks - including a very famous current designer, and one of the (by my count) ten people who ever wrote, co-wrote, or edited an official version of the D&D rules for TSR. So that's pretty sweet. Furthermore, there's a special surprise annoucement coming probably Monday that will be fun for the magazine and boost our profile further.
Second, I am not entirely happy with people's behavior on the 'what are people planning on submitting' thread. A couple people have now withdrawn submissions to the magazine because of that thread. I responded to it in a way which attempted to be moderate, because I was getting offlist complaints from people who didn't want to be associated with 3e bashing.
People will or won't submit what they want and will or won't work with specific or general other people for a variety of reasons. I just wanted to make a couple of things clear.
1) This is not really a 'group creative project' except in the sense that we all are (or should be) inspiring and helping each other do better. This is a bunch of individual creative projects, some of which are discussed group-wise here and elsewhere, some of which are discussed and developed with me and Ig, and some of which are simply submitted and printed. Do what you want about submitting, but don't take criticism on this forum as necessarily meaning anything about the magazine, even if it comes from me.
2) I know that a lot of people who are participating in this magazine are very sensitive, sometimes with good reason, about various issues related to D&D and other games. This isn't the place to hash out those differences. What this is for is creating cool old school fantasy content. If you want to do that, I'd love to have your stuff.
So anyway, I've got some private PMs to send now, but I just wanted to say that. I hope lots of you will keep sending things in, because you all are the magazine, and its quality depends on different members of our community (even those who don't really like one another much) being willing to put those personal differences aside to produce good old-school content.
