OD&D Vol. II (M&T), pp. 12-13, Subduing Dragons: Round 1: A total of 11 hit points of subdual damage is inflicted upon the dragon, who has 66 hit points. Finding the ratio: 11/66 = 0.1666 or 0.17 or 17%. This agrees with the text in the book and thus so far, so good. Round 2: During this round 12 points of damage is scored against the dragon, for a cumulative 33 points so far. The dragon still has 66 hit points remaining since subdual damage isn't actual inflicted damage, but let us say the wyrm has 55 hit points for the sake of argument. Here is my dilemma: the text gives the subdual chance 34% but I cannot arrive at this number. - Total party subdual damage versus total dragon hp: 33/66 = 50%
- Total party subdual damage versus current dragon hp: 33/55 = 60%
- Round 2 party damage versus total dragon hp: 12/66 = 18%
- Round 2 party damage versus current dragon hp: 12/55 = 22%
Am I overlooking something, or is the 34% number an error on the author (or editor's) part? EDIT: Well, I feel a bit silly about it but Makofan has pointed out my error. Apparently the sum of 11 and 12 is not 33 but rather 23! Who'd've thunk it? So, the correct calculation would be: - Total party damage versus total dragon hp: 23/66 = 34%
... though I, kindhearted and giving referee that I am, would have rounded that one up to 35%.

11+12=23; 23/66 is probably the 34%

Oh ... and have an exalt for lifting the fog of my error (obvious though it was)!
