How did you and Gary adjudicate Phantasmal Forces? What were the types of things your players did with it?

Rob How did you and Gary adjudicate Phantasmal Forces? What were the types of things your players did with it? Hi Makofan. We pretty much adjudicated it by the book. PF is one of those "grey" area spells with effects really dependent on its use as initially described into being by the players. It can be dangerous under the right circumstances, such as in timed insertions, use to manipulate general area/mood, in rising conflict situations related to it, and in myriad other granular circumstances prevailing or insinuated during its use. Our players were pretty modest with its use, IMO, with Ernie Gygax usually favoring the idea of bands of archers, like in Burrough's primary story (IIRC, "Thuvia MoM") where EGG lifted the idea for the spell from, etc. IMO it's a very dangerous spell, and I have always argued that it is too powerful for a 2nd level ranking, though YMMV with that. I have amended it (under "Illusion") in my World of Kalibruhn spell set and in different nuanced ways. Rob

Thanks for the reply!
I always thought EGG got the idea from Kar Komak of Mars, so it is nice to have that confirmed. I am having some challenges with the adjudication of my players' ideas, but I am leaning to reminding myself that it is only a 2nd level spell, and remembering its origin.
