What an awkward looking game box we have! ;D Well, at least it stands out as different than the others. I was actually curious about some of those hardback "Dungeons & Dragons" books . . . Are they Lulu compilations of the LBBs? That's what they look like . . .

Is it still possible to get that hardcopy of the OD&D LBBs? That would be....amazing.
Also that is the most enviable gaming collection ever.

Legally? No, though Delving Deeper by Brave Halfling Publishing and Swords & Wizardry: White Box by Mythmere Games (and written by our very own esteemed moderator Finarvyn) are very close to the original version of the game.
If you're willing to step outside legality, there are pirated PDFs floating around the internet, usually on some Torrent or another.

Yeah I already own PDFs of both of those, but do plan on getting a hardcopy of S&W:WB. Haven't looked into Delving Deeper enough.
I was hoping there was someway to get the original material in hardcopy though, clear of others' little edits and such. Been seeing that particular hardcopy in a lot of these shelf posts. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Thanks for the compliments about the shelf, guys. That's the part I use the most these days. It represents about ... a quarter of my collection, all things considered. Most of my 3rd ed and Pathfinder stuff isn't on this pic, I have another, similar shelf with more general content, plus CoC, Old and new Worlds of Darkness and the like, some GURPS, Aces & Eights, and so on.
In any case, right there on the second row of the shelf on the pic, that's the stuff I use the most these days, by far. It includes OSRIC, First Edition AD&D stuff, a bunch of modules including the original Bottle City and other Pied Piper stuff (hi, Rob), C1, S4, T1-4 and the like, OD&D and supplements, including Carcosa and the Majestic Wilderlands, and AS&SH of course.

About getting an original D&D White Box, I got my first copy from Monte Cook, and the second from a user of the RPG Site who never used his. I would advise searching on eBay for "Original Dungeons & Dragons 1974" to see if there are any floating around for sale lately.

I keep a constant eye on eBay for OD&D. I've got notifications and such all set up. Been keeping an eye on that particular item. Just not sure I can afford it yet. Thanks for the help!

That price is reasonable, but there are more than 4 days of bidding remaining. The final bid is going to be higher, perhaps much higher. No problem.

I don't even care about the box -- I just want the LBBs. Must be much more reasonable to purchase just the books without the box, eh?

Also, it really helps to have a copy of the Chainmail rules along with the OD&D LBBs.

Gary's and Dave's passing certainly drove the prices up, as so often happens with a great artist's work. I just hope, wherever they are, they're getting a good laugh out of it! edit to include missing word

Also, it really helps to have a copy of the Chainmail rules along with the OD&D LBBs. That's very true. I'll have to pick those up eventually as well. Luckily Chainmail seems to be significantly cheaper.

Also, it really helps to have a copy of the Chainmail rules along with the OD&D LBBs. Absolutely. I've got it all, just crappy photocopies of PDFs I bought from Paizo about 7 years ago.

I've got a PDF of Chainmail as well. But it's pretty awful, visually, and not very friendly with my usual readers.
Besides, that's the kind of thing that just begs to be on the shelf.

And don't forget the Ready Ref Sheets. Ready Ref ... the DMG of of OD&D! Without a doubt. I've been using the PDF in all my games for awhile no matter the system. Just bought a hardcopy today though. I was pretty excited (found them through this board in another area, I love this place).

Try looking for the books individually. Also check the used listings on Amazon and used sellers like Powell's. I have gotten some good prices on some supplements from (I think) non-gamers who don't know what things are worth.
