Heroes & Other Worlds has just been released by Christopher Brandon, inspired by Melee/Wizard/ TFT system as well as by the Moldvay edition D&D Basic Rules book. 1) Only d6 are used 2) There are two broad scope character classes: Adventurers & Wizards 3) Each Hero has 4 attributes and tests are made by rolling 3d6 versus your attribute. Roll equal to or lower and you succeed, roll over and you fail. No AC or charts. 4) You build your character, both attributes and selection of skills/spells. 5) Combat can be played tactically using a map (squares or hexes), but it is not necessary. 6) Armor hinders the Dexterity of the wearer and subtracts from damage done to the wearer. 7) The basic tropes of dungeon creation, exploration, creature catalog and treasure tables are all included. It looks quite a nifty little package !

Thanks for the news!
Sounds kind of neat, but I'm not a fan of the two-class system. I like to have as many classes as I have players, as a general rule of thumb.
Otherwise, it sounds pretty neat. It's been a long time since I read TFT, however, and I can't recall how much I liked it.

It's a very easy system to add to. The 'In The Labyrinth' expansion to TFT had a shed-load of classes such as: BARBARIAN, LEADER, AMAZON, MERCENARY, BLADEMASTER, THIEF, GADGETEER, PRIEST, ASSASSIN/SPY, SCHOLAR, WOODSMAN, ROGUE, MERCHANT, MARTIAL WIZARD, ADEPT, TOWNSMAN-WIZARD, WIZARDLY THIEF , WIZARD'S APPRENTICE Christopher discusses this in his latest blog post

Awesome--thanks for the heads-up! * Modified to add: Okay, looked at the preview, and the art looks fantastic--very dungeon-crawly. The cover reminds me of a box of Grenadier miniatures... I do feel the need to say I'm a bit put off by the $20/$15 price tag, but it does look like a great addtion to the Old School Ruckus!
