Fated's men indulge in gruesome horseplay: pike-wielding riders mount their fellows piggyback-style and charge the remaining zombies, the worms trampled beneath their stamping feet.

From out of the darkness burst a two legged dinosaur. Perched on it back, brandishing a curved sword and dressed in leather armor, is one of the strangest men you've encountered.
Though similar in physiology as every one else, this man was a strange whitish-pink color, not the bleached white of a normal whiteman. Large patches of black and white hair grew from his cheeks, with more of the same color on his head, and a bizarre roundish hat is perched on top.
Five yellow men with strips of cloth wound about their heads, dressed in leather armor, and carrying spears follow him from the darkness,
With a cry of "Tallyho!" and "For Queen and Country!", the strange man charged forward and with a deft swing lops the head of the zombie attacking Buck Quarry.
Bringing his dinosaur steed to a stop he slips from the saddle, pats its side with a whisper of "Well done, my brave Hippocampus".
Turning to the face the men of the camp, he fits a round piece of glass to his left eye. looks them over carefully, and begins to speak.
“Looks like you chaps were in a bit of a sticky wicket. Not that you were you doing too badly. No Queen’s Own Fusiliers you know, but then nothing quite is, is it? A few proper British regiments and we’d have this place sorted right now, wouldn’t we? Still, quite serviceable, quite serviceable indeed.”
He looks expectantly at the men in camp, his face brightening. “Say, you wouldn’t happen to have some proper tea now, would you?” His face falls just as suddenly, “No. I don’t suppose you would. No proper tea in all the colonies. Just some dreadful stuff. Quite ghastly. Don't know how you colonials get by.”
He starts to pace the camp, randomly poking in an agitated manner at things with his saber. “No proper tea, or brandy, or even sherry. Can’t even find a spot of good tobacco. Oh, there’s stuff that looks like tobacco. Smells quite like it too. Dreadful stuff though. Simply dreadful. Last time I tried it I thought I was a rock for a week. Not so bad being a rock though. Quite peaceful. “
“Nigel,” he calls as he takes a seat next to one of the burning fires. “NIGEL!” He shouts. “Where is that dratted man? Can’t get good help these days. No, indeed.” He continues to himself.
As a yellow man wearing a crude cravat runs up, Reggie address him. “Have the men set up camp, Nigel. And for dinner I’d like a bit of the lamb with some nice potatoes.” He dismisses the man with a wave of his hand.
Straightening his back, he again turns to the men of the camp. “Now, what brings you chaps to the swamp? We’re been lost here for days ourselves. Bloody well good thing we came along and jumped in to help you out. Quite right it is.”
(OOC Hi all. Thanks for letting me join this venture. I've been reading through some of the past posts. Some very excellent stuff here. Hopefully I can hit the high bar that's been set.)

The seven remaining Fine Brown Cannibals surround the eighth one and stare intently to see if he is turning into a zombie.
If it looks like he is, then they will hack the body to pieces, wailing as they do so...
"He had such nice legs!" "What a waste of a fine meal!" "I miss his liver already!" "d**n those zombies!"

With the zombies neutralized, the gummi worm threat can be dealt with by whatever subset of the party is not interacting with the bizarre newcomers. On closer inspection, you see they are not made of gummi at all, but rather their skin has been removed revealing the juicy redness within. The [red]flayed worms[/red] burn and irritate your skin where they touch, but do not seem actively interested in harming you and can be easily brushed off. Once flicked to the ground, they quickly burrow out of sight into the loose earth. You earn a bazillion XP from the zombie battle (but no treasure), see here for the details: odd74.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=muchgnome&thread=5957&page=2Alas, Reggie arrived late to the party and only gets xp for the 1 zombie he destroyed himself. Please remember that the higher-level PC's are in deep sleep so they are not present for this scene...

Once they see that he isn't a zombie, they start salivating... And quietly standing about the wounded one, doing nothing to help him.
But the Deep One Minon sees one of Shade's troops in need of medical attention, and manages to gurgle,"Medic!"
He tries to stabilize the wounded Cannibal until someone with more medical knowledge arrives.

Dream Stalker (healing Specialist) attempts to lend medical aid. Her first priority will be The Lurking Skull, followed by the unconscious Cannibal, then the merely wounded. Finally, Buck Quarry.

Grand Yet Mystifying watches as the healer ministrates to the down bone man.
"I say! That seems most irregular." he exclaims as the body starts to twitch. ' Most irregular indeed."

(ooc: sorry, unexpectedly had to take a short trip)
Apothecaria turns her attention, and to the wounded and anyone "infested" by a gummy-worm. She will triage to the best of her abilities, caring for the most grievously wounded first.

(ooc: sorry, unexpectedly had to take a short trip) Apothecaria turns her attention, and to the wounded and anyone "infested" by a gummy-worm. She will triage to the best of her abilities, caring for the most grievously wounded first. The most greivously wounded is a brown man cannibal unconscious with 0hp, diagnosis: multiple shallow bite and claw wounds. He has passed his first saving throw vs. poison and shows no immediate signs of zombification. Apothecaria spends 1 turn treating his wounds. She has 4-in-6 healing skill but rolls a 5; she can do no more than make him comfortable. His body must fight off the infection on its own; if he passes a second save in 24 hours then he will be okay.

The Deep One Minion starts to direct the Fine Brown Cannibals, but Sgt. Cannibal steps in, "I'll take care of this, fish head. 'e's my man, after all."
He turns to the seven (or is it six? Does the total number include the Sgt? Or no?) members of the FBC and says, "We're going to stand guard over poor Vernon here, boys. Nobody is ta eat em. And nobody is ta kill em. Unless you see him turned - then we kill him and burn the body. We ain't touching our mouths to that filthy zombie flesh, ye got it? Or else we might become one of them zombies ourselves."
They rotate two to a shift for two hour intervals with Sgt. Cannibal checking in on them every now and then to make sure he isn't dead or eaten or... undead.

Dream Stalker decapitates the unfortunate bone man and keeps an eye out for any of the wounded who might be starting to turn.
Here come more undead out from the mist! Will this night of terror ever end??? An enormous hulking figure approaches, eight feet tall at least, followed by a trio of shadowy figures. The Loyal Beast of the Unknown Master has arrived!

"Egads! Look at the size of that one." Grand exclaims as he jumps to his feet. "Sargent! Form up the men! Spears at the ready! Prepare to repel invaders!"
The 30th Punjabis form up into a skirmish line, spears at the ready.

Mercenary Discipline Check = 1 The Bone-Troopers are utterly terrified by the monstrous 8' tall bone-terror and its minions! Something about it strikes a chord deep within their bone-man collective subconscious. They can take no action (other than to defend themselves if directly attacked).

Being used to regular threats Loyal Beast of the Unknown Master pulls his blood red cloak up tight over his head and leaves his sword sheathed on his back. His cloak covers everything except his hands which are a horror to see. His decayed hands are like a quilt of various fur and decaying flesh melded together with dried blood.
He begins to purposely walk a wide circle around the armed men attempting to avoid confrontation.
"Spirits, Stay your hatred! These men have done not to deserve your wrath" The beast's voice is unearthly deep and gravely
The wraiths hiss at the command but do as their are told. Their ghostly forms wisp and flow around The Loyal Beast in a protective manner.
The Loyal Beast stops for just a moment, quickly looks to each side then whistles.
Out of the mist runs a huge harnessed allosaurus straight towards The Loyal Beast of the Unknown master. Loyal Beast grabs onto it's harness whispers quietly to it and starts leading it away with him.
