How is the next issue of Fight On! doing? Is there anything we can do to help?
And more importantly: how can we prevent stalling in the future? Reduce the page count? Are there jobs that can be offloaded to other people? Is layout something that can be split between several people? If the quality is lowered, so be it.

I have no layout experience, but if you need more material I have today off and there are about a dozen half-written or three-quarters-written submittions sitting in the computer that I could polish into shape.

Hi Alex!
I suppose with me being the bottleneck, it was inevitable that there would be a delay like this sooner or later. The cover is done and the interior is half laid out. We need a week to finish it probably. I will get that week in August; I'm in Nice now on vacation.
I am really sorry about the delay and would love to 'crowdsource' more of the work. How to do that I'm not sure. We have been working with an outside layout guy on another project and he has fabulous ideas but the result is lots of back and forth - I think it improves quality rather than efficiency in the end.
I would not expect a holdup like this for issue #15 after #14 comes out. I am finally getting used to life as a nonsmoker and some of the other personal distractions that have delayed this issue were one-time things that I don't expect to recur. It is the first one in about four years after all.
Anyway, really sorry to everyone about the delay on this issue. #14 will be out in August and we should be able to move forward more normally from there, assuming a more normal course of external events at any rate.
But! Let's use this thread in the meantime as a way to brainstorm crowdsourcing ideas for getting the 'zine out faster and more regularly. We already have a great crew of writers and artists, and putting together a balanced issue is something Ig and I put a lot of work into - but maybe there are ways that others could help with some of this as well?
One open offer that's been on the table for a long time and is still there is that if someone who has contributed and participated to the Old School community (not necessarily Fight On! itself) reliably for a while wants to 'guest edit' an issue they are welcome to do that.

Woo-hoo! Vacation!
Woo-hoo! Non-smoking!
It'll come out when it comes out. The Old School publishers have a long history of missing publishing deadlines; consider this an homage.
It'll still be as good when it does come out.

Have fun in Nice, I hear it is nice there and congrats on sticking to non smoking. I know from experience how difficult that can be

Congratulations on sticking to non-smoking. Always a good idea. Whenever I hear Nice I'm thinking about southern France. There are probably half a dozen towns with the same name in the United States, however. Nice in France is where people go to see and be seen, where beaches and savoir vivre meet, where french cuisine and wine from Languedoc-Roussilion meet. I imagine it must be wonderful. I hope that wherever you are is similar. As for Fight-On! – do you spend a lot of time copy-editing and formatting articles? Perhaps this is something that could be distributed. I hesitate to volunteer for an entire issue, but ten pages would be ok.

Too many cooks spoil the magazine. I think you guys have done a stellar job, and I wouldn't change a thing. Enjoy your vacation! (Or, hope you enjoyed it, as it's probably over now.)

Thanks, APlus. Actually, I am still in Nice, heading to Paris tomorrow...but I'll be back in another week or so, and then we should be getting the mag out in fairly short order.

Yes, and your nice retrospective is already laid out.
I am back from Europe today and slogging through the emails. Should be back to work on the issue by tonight.
Best,
Sean
