Hi all -
So now we vote. If you vote 'something else' say what you're voting for below - if you don't like any of the names don't vote. If you like some variant on one of the first three titles vote for it as written and post the variant you like better in this thread.
If it's close we might have a run-off, or I might just go with the majority. If 'something else' gets a lot of votes and there are good suggestions we might do a new poll with those suggestions incorporated. All three of the titles currently listed are OK with Ignatius, so let's see what the people want!

I voted for Revenant Runes because that is calithena's original vision, which I think should be respected

I voted Fight On!
It denotes enthusiasm.
It's a book quote from the original books. It's place on the afterword of OD&D, witch I consider to be a gaming manifesto.
We have been using the Fight On! between fellow OD&Ders as a word of encouragement and excitement.
I means a hell lot of things. I had lot's of meaning before, and now, after The Passing, it's meaning is even deeper.
It has power. And it's just cool!

I'd be happy with any of the names, and thanks Makofan for backing me up. As it turns out I voted for Weird Enclaves & Black Pits, because it's cool and weird.
But we don't need to primp our choices here, Ignatius is OK with any of these names and the one that emerges as the general favorite will be fine in the end.

I went with 'Fight On!'
I like 'Revenant Runes', but just think that 'Fight On!' is even better.
And 'Weird Enclaves & Black Pits', while cool, sounds like it should be a supplement to 'Big Eyes, Small Mouth' instead of OD&D to me.

Zulgyan's comments are convincing to me, so rack up another for Fight On!

I like Fight On! but honestly it could be the name for anything. Marine veterans, professional boxing fans, gay rights activists. It won’t bring a classic dungeon adventure game to mind for most people.

Yeah I like it too, but won't it get shortened to WEBP, which is a bit unwieldy and hard to remember? I haven't voted yet becasue I'm still pondering the issue.

Fight On! is looking like a runaway winner.
Anyone want to do up the title?
It's a great name all in all, I just wish it had a little bit more of a weird fantasy/sword & sorcery sort of vibe to it. But actually, that stuff needs us to fight on too, so it's all good.

Hey.
By "do up the title", do you mean you're looking for a whole cover illustration?

No, I mean like
Fight On!
or something like that for the top of the front cover. Our 'logo' as it were.
I already commissioned some cover art which I'm now worried is inappropriate in light of the title change.
Another option is that we could give each issue a subtitle: issue 1 could be Revenant Runes, issue 2 could be Weird Enclaves and Black Pits, and so on.

Aha.
I like the subtitle idea, though I suppose it creates a thematic expectation, which may not be what you had in mind...
Also, given what you described earlier, I think the image fits just fine, actually.

"Revenant Runes" and "Weird Enclaves and Black Pits" could be department names.

I like the subtitle idea as well. It has history: the game is called Dungeons & Dragons, but Volume I is called Men & Magic...

"Revenant Runes" and "Weird Enclaves and Black Pits" could be department names. Indeed. Maybe "Revenant Runes" could be the Letters column? "Weird Enclaves & Black Pits" could be the featured module(s) (or dungeon, or whatever) department? Just thinking through my fingers... ;D

I'm trying to come up with a logo. I've never really done that before but sometimes I'm the kind of guy too foolish to know his limits until he exceeds them.

This is going to sound simplistic, but what about Old School Fantasy? I was going to suggest Old School D&D, but the first title would include other fantasy like EPT.

I like Fight On!, but I was thinking about this over the week, and I think Falconer's point is very valid: My proposed title: Men & Magic I'm sure you know where I got it from. I think it clearly says White/Woodgrain box D&D, not Holmes, etc. I also think getting some sort of alliteration for the title would feel very old school and bring to mind D&D more. I know, I'm late to the party, but I liked it so much, I had to put it out there to see what others thought.

In our sensitive times "Persons & Prestidigitations" might be a safer bet.
M&M is a fine title and eminently usable, but we're pretty much locked in with Fight On! at this point. The first issue will be out in May or maybe even late April, it's looking like.

I figured as much, but I thought I'd put it out there. I'm looking forward to the first issue, and hoping I can be a contributor at some time in the future.
