Some of you may notice that I've created a new section of the boards devoted to Fritz Leiber's "Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser" world. And I moved all threads I could find into it.
But there aren't that many threads. Probably not enough to really justify a board.
The world of Nehwon and the City of the Black Toga (Lankhmar) has long been one of my favorite series of literature, and the series dates back to the 1930's. The world of F&GM has been listed as a major influence in Gary's AD&D "Appendix N" and clearly was a major influence in the feel of OD&D.
Lankhmar has been a part of the fantasy community for a long time.
Clearly, this material has been a part of OD&D from the start and there is a lot of potential discussion out there.
This is where being "king of the universe" has its advantages. I wanted this section, so I made it. ;D

- The original Lankhmar board game (unpublished) dates back to the 1930's and was a lot like a RPG in that it had quests and characters and the like.
- The early F&GM stories date back to the 1930's as well, roughly as old as Conan and the Cthulhu Mythos.
- The F&GM stories clearly influenced OD&D, and the thief class is clearly similar to the way Leiber treated thieves. This dates back to 1974 or 1975 or thereabouts.
- The Lankhmar Boardgame (published) dates back to 1976.
- The 1980 AD&D book "Deities & Demigods" hasa section on the Nehwon Mythos.
- TSR published "Lankhmar: City of Adventure" for AD&D in 1993, along with a half-dozen modules at roughly the same time.
- TSR published the "Lankhmar: The New Adventures of Fafhrd and Gray Mouser" boxed set for AD&D 2E in 1996.
- Mongoose published a couple of Lankhmar/Nehwon campaign sourcebooks for Runequest in the mid-2000's.
Clearly, this material has been a part of OD&D from the start and there is a lot of potential discussion out there.
