<oops, meant for the general board> I have a bad habit of maintaining a word doc when I'm researching D&D topics, or trying to get ideas while surfing the 'net. I like to copy and paste things other gamers have written, then reread it later, perhaps alter a bit to taste, and finally possibly add the idea to my own 'house rules'. This tactic extends to dungeon elements, and to a lesser extent, campaign features from time to time. Doesn't sound so bad, huh? Well, I feel bad because I'm *terrible* at keeping notes, so I end up with 'stolen goods' so to speak, but cannot remember from where they came I'm working on doing a better job in my reference material since I'm such a bad person. With that I must warn you that if you guys (n gals) post good ideas here, I might just take them and use them in my own campaign ;D

If you use Firefox and have a Gmail Account you can utilize the Google Notebook feature. It's awesome for gathering information from all over the web and bringing it into one place... here's a brief tour of Google Notebook: www.google.com/googlenotebook/tour1.html

<oops, meant for the general board> And that's where it is! I think that most of us have a similar habit of stealing good stuff and adding it to our homebrew games. I might make a note to myself where I got it, but often I don't either. (Unless I save a file called "Doc's Barsoom Game" or some such that will remind me later who dunit.) I think you're fine unless you plan to publish.

Joining this board last June, I had really no firm idea as to exactly what OD&D really was, or even how it worked. 8+ months later, I've not only scrounged the 'net for all the TSR OD&D material I could find (which was all of it), but I got a wealth of great ideas & knowledge from all these fine fellows & ladies right here in this forum. You're fine. Just browse, enjoy, & participate; nobody here bites (well...)

I wouldn't worry about crediting the small stuff. But if you copy/paste a huge crap-load of stuff to use, you may want to title it with the originator's name in your notes, just in case. BTW, I've posted a lot of good stuff regarding OD&D including Barsoomian animals, various other creatures (some of which Gary Gygax is using himself for Lejendary Adventures) and a few tidbits here and there. Take 'em and use 'em!

Thanks! Yeah, it's mostly just snippets here and there. I just hate the fact that I might share something I'm using for my campaign and offend someone who thinks I'm trying to pass it off as my own. Oltekos, I'm where you were back in June...everytime I visit this board I learn something new about OD&D.
