Hey guys,
New around here but been playing for almost 20 years, Me and my friends that play together were looking for good online tools (char builder, initiative/encounter manager, battle grid and such) we haven't found anything worthwhile so we are considering developing ourselves, before we do that I told them we should ask the forums if it's a good idea or not, if someone will actually use it or not, Opinions?
Thanks

Here's kind of a cool character builder: truculent.org/llchar/ It's designed for Labyrinth Lord, but it'll work with basically all TSR-era D&D-type games.

Hey there, and welcome!
Which edition of the game are you thinking about? Most of us around here play some version of the earliest rules, so most tools like that aren't really necessary.
That being said, there are tons of links, pretty well-organized, on the Resources forum. You might find something if use there.
I know that I myself have posted a couple of 4e links on the Other Editions forum, at least one of which was an encounter builder.
On a big-picture level, whatever the edition, I say the more tools available, the better!

Thanks for the replies, we play 3.5e so we'll probably start with that, but we will expand it according to demand...

Thanks for the replies, we play 3.5e so we'll probably start with that, but we will expand it according to demand... Well, since the board's focus is the 1974 edition of the rules, it's possible that folks here don't know much about tools designed for 3.5e. I know that I haven't played it much and don't know much about the system itself, let alone how to run it online. I'm going to slide this to the "Other Editions" section, as it would appear to have the most direct connection there.

For 3.5, there's PCGen (http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/01_overview.php), which I've never had occasion to use but is probably a lot of fun to mess around with even if you don't play 3.5.

Pcgen is nice, we're aiming for an tablet application that will merge char creation, encounter management and battle grid.

If you are talking online page there is Fantasy Grounds (http://www.fantasygrounds.com) which has rulesets for OSRIC (AD&D) and Labyrinth Lord (B/X) Both of which work very well.
