This is probably the worst performing Kickstarter i've backed in terms of communication from the creator and how late it is.

I'm referring to the fact that he's working with VISTA and may not be off that program until September 2013, according to the other thread in this forum. He thought it would only impact sales (he's not allowed to have outside income while on the program.) But perhaps he didn't take into account how busy he'd be?

I think you're missing the point. The project should have been over and done with two months before the hurricane hit.

Taking a new job in the middle of a project like that and not giving updates about when it will get done is just not responsible.

Oh, that could be true. I have limited time and spend almost none of it on the Kickstarter site, although I've always given updates when a new development in the process occurs, but haven't said much when there wasn't news of some sort to report. I'm very easy to reach however, either here or through my email. The short of it is, the layout is now in the 9th draft, which I believe should be the final one, and could be done any day now, but I hesitate to say anything until I have it in hand. Sincere apologies if you are annoyed at me for not talking about it more often.

I can understand delays as I rode out the mostly forgotten Hurricane Rita. If you civilization has been destroyed your projects will be delayed. Other than the size Sandy could have been far worse.

To be honest, that date was boneheadedly stupid on my part. I should have said August 2013 or at least January. I had no concept of how much extra time it adds when working with other people. It's also true that my Vista service hasn't allowed me to provide as quick of feedback to my project team as I might otherwise. Certainly I've learned that in order to get good work from others, it takes a lot more time than simply working on your own.

I'm reading the latest draft and it's been well worth the wait -the art and layout look mighty fine, Mr B.

I haven't gone through the draft in any detail, but there are a couple poor layout choices you might want to change. Setting text fully justified without hyphenation looks pretty amateur, and hinders readability. For example: cl.ly/NwRg and cl.ly/NwHX. You should probably also increase the leading, so blocks of text don't look so cramped.

This is a project I'm willing to wait for. The content of the latest draft looks great, although I agree with funkaoshi that a few layout niggles should be addressed.

It would be super cool if we could get monthly updates...

I guess I'm (as always) behind the times. I've read a little about this project and it sounds nifty. I wonder what the asking price will be when it comes out for the non-Kickstarter folks. ()

What amount of the material from Beyond This Point Be Dragons will be in CoZ? Tons? Some? A pinch?

Sounds like something I'd like to look into when it's done. No rush.

I dunno what the PoD prices will be, but I don't mark up my stuff very high over cost, so it wont be a fortune.

BTPbD has a very strong influence on CoZ. I would never have gone to the trouble to make CoZ were it not for the existence of BTPbD.

Has anyone seen Radagast the Brown's "Arnesonian Combat" doc as mentioned in this thread? It doesn't show up at Comeback Inn or Dragonsfoot, unless I'm blind as well as stupid.

Here was the last update on the kickstarter, a week ago:

"I have been taking some time of late to do a final edit of Champions of ZED before going to print. While I was aware of some small inconsistencies remaining in the pdf released a few months ago, one very important error was turned up by one of your fellow backers. Apparently, for unknown reasons, the fighting capability tables for Magic-users and Clerics are identical. They should not be. These tables are distinct and correct in the earlier drafts and in the reference sheets you all have, but somehow or other copied incorrectly into the pdf, and I totally missed it in reviewing the pdf before I released it. So I’m personally going to make sure that’s fixed along with any thing else I can find, line by line. I’ve never worked with a pdf editor before so I admit some trepidation, but since these are small, text only edits the layout remains unaffected. Going well so far."
