Fellows, Here is a proof of the box lid wrapper for the AS&SH game. The design is by James Kramer, with top lid painting by Charles Lang and bottom lid illustration by Ian Baggley. Cheers, Jeff T.

I love that lid. It reminds me of freaky fantasy paperback covers from the 1960s.

I love that lid. It reminds me of freaky fantasy paperback covers from the 1960s. When I was working with Jim Kramer on the box design, I told him to think of pulp magazines from the 30's and 40's, and metal album covers from the 80's. I think he struck the right chord . . . or at least the one I was looking for.

Jeff, I have to agree with you about the cover capturing the correct look. The font on the covers perfectly catures the style of the pulps and album covers. An additional effect is that the combination also looks exactly like the style used by rpgs from the late 70's and early 80's. When I first saw it I had flashbacks to the collections of boxed games me and my buddies had overflowing our bookshelves. Every aspect of this project is doing an excellent job of recapturing the feel of the games from my youth.

My experiences are much the same. BTW -- that is a lovely sig.

The AS&SH boxes came in this week. They are a sturdy whiteboard, wrapped with a color, matte finish top lid and black & white bottom lid. Interior dimensions are 7-3/4 x 9-3/4 x 2-1/2 inches. They look great! Also, the maps are in, too, measuring 22 x 28 inches, accordion folded to about a 7-inch square. We are still in layout for the manuals.

Likewise, I am very much looking forward to your Dwimmermount adventure. It ought to be available in August/September, depending on how long it takes to get all the art done in time. Having that achieved that art book stretch goal is exciting, but it also increases the workload needed to complete this project!

Jeff, that second photo is such a tease! I picture all those boxes and the only thing I can think of is...."How long before I hold one?"

I like it! The art, text, font, border coloring, overall styling, etc all fits pretty well, in my opinion. I was not initially a big fan of the cover art, but seeing the final product has improved my opinion quite a bit. Keep up the good work!

Very nice looking box. While I enjoy the plain and boring "white box" of the original game, this kind of box really reaches out to grab potential buyers. I think that's important in order to attract this generation's gamers.
Well done!

James Maliszewski -- I never cease to be surprised by how much time and work goes into the coordination of a project, even in this age of superior communications. @everyone else -- Thanks! I'm glad you like. The folks at Marion Box Company do an excellent job, and I can't thank John "Brave Halfling" Adams enough for introducing me to them. Also, Jim Kramer did a fantastic job designing the thing, and he is to be commended for his patience dealing with a nutty gamer (me) who changed his mind on things over and over again.

This is the first time I'm seeing your game. That Box is full of win. I am an absolute prostitute enthusiast for boxed sets. I will definitely be wanting one of these.

@doomsdave -- Welcome to the odd74 boards! Thank you for the kind words and enthusiasm. Boxed sets are my preference, too. thelizardofoz -- A classic song from a band I still love. Savatage (and Manowar, too) really touched on D&D-ish themes that really resonated with me as a teenager, and I'm not ashamed to say my tastes have not changed much since then.
