Meanwhile at the central hatch Breath is preparing her boarding party of 20 for the encounter. A messenger from the Bagel has brought a treat from Tattooed Mofo's private stash: a duffel bag full of guns. There are 1d=10 weapons: 5 air rifles (as light crossbow) 3 black powder pistols (heavy crossbow) 1 arquebus 1 ultraviolet pulse rifle (range 1,000' , 2d damage, 25 charges) He expects them back after the encounter, but they're the Party's to use for the boarding mission! "This will surely turn the tide!" She appropriates the pulse rifle for herself and doles out the 9 remaining guns to her crew, and has them load and ready them to attack. "Now, let us show these limp-spined fishes what real men (and one woman) can do!" She leads the way down the ladder, firing her rifle at the large group below (ideally at a leader if she can identify one either by his accoutrements or behaviour) to hopefully demoralise/delay the fish-men enough for her crew to get down into formation (cutlass-wielders to protect gun-wielders). Then they shall open fire in unison! (If we are attacked first, she'll give the order to fire at will instead).

The 2 Deep One reinforcements see that they are outnumbered and hastily retreat to the central airlock. The Party has taken control of the engineering deck. Shade communicates **Some of you pick up those spear guns and watch that pool. We don't want to get surprised here, ourselves. The rest of you, come with me to secure the central airlock after we make sure this ship isn't going anywhere anytime soon.**Shade examines the controls to see if he can temporarily disable the vessel.

Then they shall open fire in unison! (If we are attacked first, she'll give the order to fire at will instead). It seems likely the Deep Ones will win initiative, as they are completely prepared for your attack. I will allow Breath a 2-in-6 chance to turn the tide with a cool stunt, and she rolls... 1, success! Breath slides down the ladder like a fire pole, wildly firing her pulse rifle one-handed! Her attack roll is an abysmal 4 (she needed a 6) but it gives her men the opening they need to lay down covering fire while the melee troops move into position. The 5 air rifles (need 8) roll 7, 9, 11, 9, 5... 3 hits for 8 (kill), 3 (kill), and 4 (wound) damage The 3 pistols (need 6) roll 6, 5, 7... 2 hits for 3 (kill), 8 (kill) damage The arquebus (need 6) rolls 8... 1 hit for 5hp (kill) Of the 11 Deep Ones, 5 are killed and 1 wounded in the onslaught... that's more than enough to force a morale check (target 7+ on 2d6), and they roll 4. Cursing and shouting in Deepwaneese, the 6 surviving Deep Ones flee through the airlock into the forward compartment of the sub! The Party has captured the central airlock.

Shade communicates **Some of you pick up those spear guns and watch that pool. We don't want to get surprised here, ourselves. The rest of you, come with me to secure the central airlock after we make sure this ship isn't going anywhere anytime soon.** What sane man would follow such a hideous tentacle beast? Shade is disappointed when the sailors ignore his command and instead turn to the charismatic Fated to Die for further instruction. Shade examines the controls to see if he can temporarily disable the vessel. Shade is not trained in submarine mechanics, but I'll give him 2-in-6... 1! Even to his untrained eye, it is apparent the submarine's electrical systems are completely off-line. Therefore no further action is necessary to disable the vessel; the sub is already dead in the water. (Maybe that's why the Deep Ones are abandoning ship?) Furthermore his olfactory organs detect the distinctive reek of whale oil. He deduces the sub has complimentary electrical and internal combustion engines... To troubleshoot the mechanism will require further study.

As Gunnery keeps watch from his sniper-perch, he hears a whoosh from the torpedo tube, and another of the stout iron barrels shoots out into the water...

"See, I told you they would fold when faced with superior fighting skill!" Breath exclaims to her men. "Now, let us all reload, form up, and take them down." ((How many exits are there from the central airlock? At least two: one to the forward compartment, and one to the aft engineering deck. Any more?)) Which direction are these things heading in? There goes another of the giant torpedoes, **whoosh!** They are firing toward the south-east, in the direction of the open ocean.

The sub is docked parallel to the Bagel and the iron apparati are shooting out of the sub's "snout" (away from your ship) and immediately disappearing beneath the waves. They are staved & bound iron barrels, perhaps 2m diameter and 2.5m length (I assume Gunnery uses the metric system?) with no visible weapon or propulsion systems. Their trajectory appears to be ballistic rather than self-guided.

((How many exits are there from the central airlock? At least two: one to the forward compartment, and one to the aft engineering deck. Any more?)) Fore airlock, aft airlock, top hatch, moon-pool below. I should mention Deep Ones did not have time to seal the airlock behind them as they fled, so it is wide open for your pursuit. This central airlock (maybe "airlock" is not the correct nautical term? it's kind of like a "mud room" in your house where you can change into your diving gear and so forth.) is presently configured for the comfort of amphibious creatures, but you suspect it could be pumped dry if desired. (Not that that is your foremost concern at the moment.) Team Breath takes a moment to reload and strategize...

Shade scowls at the disobedient crew, wipes at some of the blood and offal that splattered onto him during the latest conflict, smearing it across his chest, and advances into the next room.
He does not charge in, assuming there might be a barrage of spear guns pointed at him; he advances cautiously.

Shade is reassured to discover that Breath has secured the central chamber, and the Deep Ones have fallen back to the sub's forward compartment. Minion shakes his head, freeing his mind from visions of Dagon, and sticks his arc welder into the open hatch leading to the Forward Section. He fires it blindly, then rushes in!

Shade follows Minion closely, ready for more action.
He watches the others start to loot and smiles inwardly, knowing he already has one of his precious black pearls...

Fated breaks his men down into teams of 4-5 to go cabin-to-cabin in search of any stragglers/cool goodies/loot. Beginning with the engineering crew quarters in the aft compartment, Fated's men discover the cabins are stuffed full of bound and gagged human prisoners, in various states of filth, despair, and emaciation. No sign yet of the prisoners from the Bagel...

Minion shakes his head, freeing his mind from visions of Dagon, and sticks his arc welder into the open hatch leading to the Forward Section. He fires it blindly, then rushes in! Minion's blast of neon sparkles reveals: a narrow hallway lined with (closed) cabin doors on either side. There are 8 pairs of doors, and then the hallway opens up into a larger dining-room area, where an unknown quantity of Deep Ones have upturned the dining tables for cover and are preparing to make their last stand, Thermopylae-style. They appear extremely agitated and are gurgling and barking at each other in their foul language. The sub's main power systems are off-line, so the only light comes from dim emergency lighting and flashes of lighting through the portholes.

Fated instructs his men to set the prisoners free and arm the able ones with whatever we have at hand -- spare spear guns, clubs, improvised hand weapons. He points them toward the forward section --
"Revenge lies that way, a handful of fish to be gutted."
Fated motions his men to keep looking for valuables.

He points them toward the forward section -- "Revenge lies that way, a handful of fish to be gutted." Fated motions his men to keep looking for valuables. Some of the prisoners are too far gone physically, and some have completely lost their marbles. Only [2d] 7 of them are able-bodied enough to fight, but they are eager to get their revenge! Shining his flashlight into one of the cabins, Fated reaches the conclusion that this submersible was designed for a human crew, and that the Deep Ones have ransacked, vandalized, and befouled what was once a proud vessel.

Breath leaves 6 men to guard the moon-pool (cutlasses only), and heads forward with Minion and Shade to engage the fish-men with her remaining sailors. She will ignore the side-rooms (being searched by Fated and his men). Before leaving, she directs those on guard by the moon-pool to call out loudly for aid if they see anything suspicious.

So we've got Breath, Minion, Shade and 14 sailors (20 minus the 6 guarding the moon pool) plus 7 enraged freed prisoners hell-bent on revenge, all charging down the narrow hallway toward the spear-wielding Deep Ones. I'm definitely going to need a marching order...

Escape pods..? Gunnery muses to himself. He starts descending from his vantage, looking about for any netting that he might use to cast over the sub's snout and capture the next such projectile... That's a brilliant plan, actually... yes, you may have a net. (And borrow a few sailors to help if you like! I imagine that any self-respecting Miskatonic University expedition ship would definitely have a net-on-a-rope for catching whales and other large creatures. Please take into consideration that the barrel-projectiles are many times more massive than Gunnery and moving at high velocity; don't end up like this guy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcW_Ygs6hm0

"You Men!" Gunnery hails any available sailors, "Get that whaling net deployed, here!" he directs them to anchor the net to a sturdy mast (or whatever it is normally anchored to for whaling), and get it cast out ahead of the submersible's snout...

*I wish we had a container of that fire foam we could throw down this hall at them!*
But certain they don't, Minion charges first down the corridor toward the heavily defended deep ones, discharging hot neon death as soon as he's in range!
