Fated clambers back aboard the ship. He sits down, curls into the fetal position, and begins to rock gently.

"We can't let them get away! We need their submersible!" Breath of New Moon leads the sailors in the chase towards the fleeing Fish-Men, cutting down any stragglers she reaches with her axe.

Let's talk strategy for a moment; what resources will the party commit to capturing the sub? What's the plan?

Round 11
Gunnery [5, 12] hits one retreating Deep One for 4hp (wound).
Under the sea, Shade flails his tentacles [1, 6, 3, 2, 6] and hits twice for 4hp and 12hp (two kills!). His psionic mind cannot tune out the death thoughts of these immortal sea creatures, such a tragedy to be on opposite sides of the conflict!
Meanwhile aboard the Bagel, Breath is organizing pursuit of the 6 Deep Ones who are fleeing back to their sub...

The Shade launches back out of the water (er... didn't really realize he was under it, but that's cool; he can stay under for a while now. ) and makes a stand in front of the entrance to the submersible. He will begin attacking Deep Ones who are transporting any captive sailors back to it, in an attempt to free them. And to keep the Deep Ones from leaving.

Round 11 continues... Breath rolls 6, 10 and non-fatally wounds a fleeing Deep One for 2hp. Minion follows with his boom-stick [6, 7, 8] polishing off the wounded Deep One with 4hp and wounding another for 7hp. How many sailors is Breath bringing with her? ("All of them" is an acceptable answer The raiding party is down to 5 Deep Ones and they will reach the entrance to their sub next round (where Shade plans to intercept them).

One of the sailors offers first aid [1d] to Fated to Die restoring him to 10hp.
Dr. Esophagus is desperately trying to save Captain Jack Records' life; the left side of the man's skull is caved in!

Round 12
5 Deep Ones are caught on the gangplank! Shade makes a stand blocking the submarine hatch, and Breath corners them with her army of sailors!
They are sitting ducks for Gunnery's sharpshooting. He needs 9 to hit and rolls 7, 12 hitting for 6hp and killing a Deep One (4 left).
I will roll individual initiative for this pivotal Round 12: Breath 2, Fated 4, Minion 5, Shade 5, Sailors 3, Deep Ones 6.
All four of the Deep Ones bull-rush Shade and attempt to knock him into the water! HF vs LH 1d/2men: 7, 6! They smack into him for 10+5hp grappling damage, knocking him overboard at -4 grapple points! Shade vanishes below the waves. [check your PM]
Minion dashes across the gangplank and holds up his boom stick up to flood the sub hatch with neon light.
Fated is revived and may join the fun if he wishes.
Breath sends a boarding party of 20 sailors across the gangplank and then carefully crosses over herself.
I need a marching order and tactical instructions for the submarine boarding party...
Meanwhile the Doc arrives to treat Captain Jack in his quarters. Is it too late? The Captain has Constitution 11 80% system shock to survive the massive damage and rolls: 72! He survives long enough for the Doc to administer first aid. His hp total is -4 and the Doc heals 1d6=2 bringing him back to -2hp, not enough to regain consciousness! Doctor Esophagus' diagnosis is Subdural hematoma. The Captain needs surgery to relieve the blood inside his skull, he needs to get to a hospital!

A strong undertow drags Shade and the Deep One Wrestlers down to the reef, where they will surely be dashed against the rocks! At the last minute, the Deep Ones lose their grip, and everyone scatters. Shade is swept into a seaweed-choked crevasse and loses sight of his assailants.
Shade flattens himself into the crevasse like an octopus and takes nourishment from the seaweed, regaining his strength from the grapple damage. He senses he is in the presence of an ancient, slumbering life-form. If Shade wishes to go deeper, he must proceed by touch alone...

Shade of Evermore must roll for surprise... 5... the giant black oyster rolls... 3... neither side is surprised. The oyster's shell is open and there is an exceptional black pearl resting on its tongue. Shade had the higher roll, so he has the initiative. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Black_pearl_and_his_shell.jpg

The oyster's shell is open and there is an exceptional black pearl resting on its tongue. Shade had the higher roll, so he has the initiative. **I need that pearl, silent one.** Shade silently weighs the prospects of jamming his bone spear into the oyster's tongue or simply trying to snatch the pearl from it's maw, thus avoiding a fight. Is there a third choice? Shade looks around the area, trying to find a stone or rock large enough that he could drop it into the open maw of the oyster, making it so it cannot close it's shell. If he can't find such an object, then he'll try to slip the pearl out with a tentacle. If it gets trapped, then he can shove the spear into the opening and attack the oyster that way...

Shade uses his first attack to jam a medium stone into the oyster's maw [mace vs. plate needs 7, rolls 3] and his second to slip the pearl out with a tentacle. [spear vs. plate, needs 11 or 7 if the rock trick works; rolls 9] The rock attack fails: it triggers the oyster's reflexes and it begins to close its shell, harmlessly dislodging the stone. In a split second, Shade must decide: will he pull his tentacle back at the last second, or reach for the pearl knowing he will successfully grab it, but his tentacle will get caught? (Or he may attempt a bone-spear-attack if you wish.)

Meanwhile aboard The Bagel, Tattooed Mofo is now the commanding officer. He commandeers every able-bodied civilian to assist with emergency duties, releasing all of his sailors to the PC's command.
As Fated crosses the gangplank and Gunnery watches from above, they see a curious sight: With a pneumatic **whoosh** a large, barrel-shaped projectile is launched from the torpedo tube, and splashes into the water!

What Breath's Boarding Party Sees:
The hatch leads down a ladder into a large tank-shaped room at the heart of the sub. The Deep Ones have configured this space as a jacuzzi/raw bar, where they can soak in the bubbles and munch on raw seafood and seaweed. 1d=11 deep one spearmen are prepared to meet your offensive!

Without giving it a second thought, his tentacle snakes around the pearl and grips it tightly. He readies his bone spear to jab into the opening just as soon as he gets the chance.

Shade grabs hold of the pearl, just as the shell clamps shut for 1d=1hp damage (reducing Shade to 10hp).
Shade's pinched tentacle is holding the shell open just the tiniest gap. It will take a perfect shot with his bone-spear [spear vs. plate & shield needs 12]. Shade rolls 9, 9 and his spear misses the mark twice.
The giant black oyster holds on like a vice!

"I hope that isn't what I think it is," mutters Gunnery, as he watches the torpedo's progress... The large iron barrel sinks out of sight below the waves... followed by another rumbling noise building in intensity from within the barrel of the torpedo tube...

It will take a perfect shot with his bone-spear [spear vs. plate & shield needs 12]. Shade rolls 9, 9 and his spear misses the mark twice. The giant black oyster holds on like a vice! With some understanding of the smaller variety of oyster, The Shade attempts to insert his bone spear at the joint of the shells, causing it to open enough that he can insert his spear inside and sever the muscles attaching the oyster to the lower part of the shell.

Shade tries to pierce the hinge-joint with his spear (7, 7) but the bivalve is anchored deep amidst the slippery seaweed.
The oyster squeezes his tentacle for an additional 1d=1hp [9hp current total] as it refuses to let go of its pearl!

Shade rolls 7, 6... his tentacle is stuck tight, and he's not making any progress opening the oyster shell. It squeezes him for an additional 1d=7hp damage (reducing him to 2hp) and his tentacle is hanging by a thread!

Now that he's out of danger, he once again attacks the hinge of the oyster, attempting to force it open.
