Has anyone tried using the Special Interests rules? I tried it for a while once, and it was pretty neat. The players liked it. The list of interests though was kind of limited and some of them were kind of lame. After our group grew past a certain point, and most of the original characters died off, we abandoned it in favor of the DMG Secondary Skills list. But I have been thinking of giving it another try. Any thoughts?

Dave liked the Special Interests system. That was how things worked in the early days. When I DMed later I used the regular OD&D rules, because I didn't have FFC at the time. When I got a copy of FFC I was too used to the normal system to switch. At the same time when I create PCs or NPCs I tried to make sure that they have some sort of hobby or personal area of interest baked into their persona...

Yep. We did not have many character classes at the start.
