We haven't had 'em for a couple of issues. Good decision? Mistake? What do you think? Should there be reviews in FO! or is it better to just let this sort of thing be handled by play articles, ads, and internet discussion? If there are to be reviews, any special way they should be approached? Interested in feedback if people have some.

I don't miss them. I think there is enough information out there for people curious about a product. Thus, to make it interesting, it would have to be stimulating on an intellectual level, not just product information, page count, usability. It would have to be an essay on adventure design, mapping, the history of the hobby or something like that, all of it embedded into the discussion of a seminal product (the Wilderlands of High Fantasy, Rappan Athuk, something like that). Even then, I'm not sure if such a review would not be better served on a blog.

I say skip 'em. Reviews are much better suited for blogs and forums, which provide the necessary features of timeliness and debate. Reviews are at their best when they provoke dialogue, and magazines and .pdfs can't host an exchange of ideas between reviewer and readers and (sometimes) creators.
