Fatigue

I like the fatigue rules in Chainmail. They are simple and give the players a reason to have fresh reserves. The only thing I don't like is the way they are presented.
The way they are presented now...
You become fatigued if any of the following apply: 1. Moving 5 consecutive turns. 2. Moving 2 consecutive turns, charging, then meleeing. 3. Moving 1 turn, charging, then meleeing 2 rounds. 4. Meleeing three rounds.
It seems to me that you could streamline this by the following: All units have 5 fatigue points. When a unit reaches or exceeds 5, the unit is fatigued. Units accumulate fatigue for the following actions.
Move 1 FP Charge 2 FP Melee 2 FP
Doing some quick figuring, only #3 does not quite work out. It is only off by one point though so close enough. All other combinations put the unit at 5 or 6 fatigue points. All other rules should apply as written. It is much easier to remember a single digit number than to remember what sequence of actions a unit performed.

Very clever!
#3: move (+1), charge (+2), melee*2 (+4) = 7 FP, if I understand your revision correctly.

And a nice way to include new troop abilities, like having 6, 7, or 8 fatigue points. Or a spell that reduces fatigue of a unit. Bravo!

You just remain fatigued until you have rested for 1 full turn as per the rules. cooper. I never considered higher fatigue levels but...yes. You are right. You could have battle hardened veterans or different monster types that can do more before getting tired. Good idea!
