What's up with all the OEPT references? There's only been one Empire of the Petal Throne game. No second edition, no rewrite, no reimaging. I don't count reprints etc. as new editions as the content is effectively the same. Adding accent marks doesn't count either. So sure it's the original EPT game, but it's the only EPT game too. Tekumel: Empire of the Petal Throne abbreviates to T:EPT and I don't see how you could confuse it with EPT. If it's some solidarity with OD&D rawk on but I don't quite get that either.

You may not confuse the difference but many people have never heard of EPT and when they look it up they find T:EPT.
TSR:EPT is also confusing, especially if shortened to t:EPT.
Original EPT is just too long. So, OEPT.
Why have OD&D either? There is just one D&D. =

I would guess that for most people, as for me, “Tekumel” and “Empire of the Petal Throne” as brand names are for all intents and purposes synonymous. Kind of like “Krynn” and “Dragonlance,” say. Especially since the latest Tekumel game has EPT in its name, it can’t hurt to clarify “yeah, I mean the ORIGINAL Empire of the Petal Throne.”
Also, sure, OD&D, OEPT, it’s camaraderie between these sibling games. :-) Regards.

Yeah, I actually like OEPT to distinguish between the TSR boxed set and later versions. The Tekumel rules from GOO are okay, but not the same as the original.

Ohhh, so that's what OEPT stands for! I was starting to think I'd lost my mind

I always wanted to start up an EPT newsletter or magazine.
I would call it In EPT and if anyone does this remember that I had the idea first!
