I'm thinking about referring players to OSRIC for an upcoming AD&D campaign. What are the major differences for character creation between AD&D and OSRIC?
Also, if there a version of OSRIC with just the character creation information?
I'll be using the AD&D books, but some of the players, I'm sure, would like to look over the rules and create their character before the first session begins.

There's an OSRIC "Player's Handbook" created and available for PDF download. I just got it a week or so ago from RPG Drive-Thru. I'm not sure what the differences would be between OSRIC and 1e, but the OSRIC material does look a lot better organized at a glance. I haven't played 1e (or OSRIC for that matter) since the early 80's!

You'd have to compare them side by side to see all of the very small differences, but most of what you would expect from an AD&D "clone" is there. The big differences off the top of my head: - No Monk or Bard - No psionics - XP progressions are slightly different (for legal reasons I suppose) - Does use exceptional strength for Fighters (but stops at 18/99) - Includes optional rules for weapon specialization (as in UA) - No weapon speed factors or modifiers vs. armor I'm sure there are a ton of other differences, but they are so very, very minor. EDIT: Here's the link that SMKSensei mentions above: OSRIC Player's Guide
