Hopefuly I didn't mention this before, but there is some EPT discussion on a Tunnels & Trolls message board. Okay, so it's one of my other boards, but I don't visit there as much as I should. Just thought I'd spread the word.

Wow cool board, and interesting thread. It prompted me to post T&T stats for a few EPT monsters over there.

Thanks. I think it's nice to cross-pollinate from one game board to another sometimes because often ideas from one game can fit nicely into another. T&T is a very simple system and is really a lot more universal than one might guess, and so running T&T for EPT or Barsoom or other settings is actually pretty smooth.
And the people who post on the TrollBridge are pretty well-mannered as well. :-)

I tinkered with using T&T for Tékumel gaming some years back, but in the end decided that the flavour of the system changed the feel of the setting a bit too much. It's very easy to come up with stats, which is handy, although I didn't progress very far with adapting the magic system.

I'd wager the simplest method of using magic in T&T rules would be to keep the system intact and replace the T&T spell names with appropriately EPT style names.
Detect Magic -> Incantation of sensing auras. Lock Tight -> Sealing of Ways Knock Knock -> Incantation of welcoming portals. Oh there it is -> Excellent revelation of the unseen. Take That you fiend -> Malignant Evocation Vorpal Blade -> Vengeful Blade of Karaka'n Oh-go away ->Dismissal Teacher -> Sorcerous Implantation Hocus Pocus -> Investure

Great re-naming! I have thought T&T would work well for Tekumel for many years, but never got around to it. The new 7th edition rules allow for some new classes like the citizen, specialist mage, and paragons.

I've had fun using TFT for EPT, and there are a similarities to T&T. I think it works best with EPT as the setting's default description (rather than trying to incorporate every bit of later info that comes along). Gotta expect some difference, so why get too picky?
Perhaps more of a departure was my RuneQuest Tekumel. Unlike Sandy Petersen (who modified RQ to fit, notably replacing the magic systems with one modeled on that in S&G), I decided to keep rather Gloranthan elements of RQ. So, the Temples of the Five Empires became RQ-style cults, and Shamans were likewise per standard rules. Magic was at once more common and less powerful than in EPT.
For me, that was a delightful combo of two of my favorite "flavors" of FRP. I've also done D&D/EPT, but somehow there seemed less point to it (although S&G/Gardasiyal magic is always distinctive).
