I'd like to take slimes in the Moroccan themed dungeon if no one's grabbed that. (Technically, I've already done the drawing to make sure I was happy with what I could do before I threw my hat in the ring.) I, for one, am interested in seeing your interpretation of the brief if you don't mind posting your drawing. I generally do the same thing you did, i.e. a sketch or drawing, before posting that I'm going to do it here. Here's the scan of my initial rough sketch for the slimes. slimedungeon_roughdraft

Me too! Also, no guarantees, but we have occasionally published two different artists' takes on the same scene when miscommunications like this arise. Anyway, thanks for trying, and we'd love to see some of your art regardless, this or other stuff!

nezach... you've done a much better job at interpreting the Moroccan influence, and yours has a much deeper architectural sensibility than mine. Also, I may have been taking a step too far to add the party into the layout.

Also, I may have been taking a step too far to add the party into the layout. I always try to include some character interaction in the art I do, because I like to get an element of storytelling in there. People seem to like this approach, so I'd say you haven't gone too far at all by including some victims in your picture.

Dang! As the dude who wrote the adventure, I'm stoked to see my moroccan chambers and hideous slimes beautifully and horrifically imagined! Twice!
Richard, I'm getting a Fiend Folio vibe from your art that I really dig.

Yeah! I like your line work. Like monk says it's got that old school vibe. Mr Green makes a great point about your adding the characters in there. It adds an element of action and story that I think is missing from mine. Great stuff.

Thanks guys. The old school look is quite intentional. You can probably tell that my main influences have filtered in - Erol Otus, Alan Hunter (a biggie from the Fiend Folio) and Dave Billman. Hunter and Billman have similar styles, but I like Hunter's inking a bit more.

Really nice work, rchrdlblnc. The wizard duel homage is my favourite.

I don't see why we can't put both "Moroccan Dungeon" pictures in there...so maybe we will if it's cool with the artists!

Are you kidding? That's exactly what I would expect it to look like--TPK! The guy in the back is my favorite--even covered in slime, he still manages to look surprised... Kudos on the wizard duel, too. I've found the easiest way to easily create a portfolio is simply make a public folder on a service like Photobucket or Picasa; they make it easy to distribute links.

It's more than fine with me. In fact if you ended up having to pick just one I wouldn't feel bad at all if you went with Richard's illustration.

It sounding like both will end up in the pub. But I wouldn't feel bad if you went with Nezach's only. I really just undertook it a chance to get back into the illustration thing, and I think Nezach's done a beautiful job capturing the architectural details that I have absolutely no patience for (hope that's not too obvious in mine.)

Also, I posted in the other (side) post request, but if you're still in need of the druid tripping on 'shrooms, I'd like to tackle that one.

Obviously this will tighten up in the inking, but would something like this work (for the wasted druid hooked on psionic mushrooms)? Or are you looking for something more of a strung out addict thing?

I'm not any sort of arbitrator here but it Looks good to me. I would think someone hooked to psi shrooms would be like what you picture (Woah, check out my fingers man!) rather than something like a 'strung out' heroin/opium junky type.

Gate - I'll be figuring that out shortly - if you can track something down well and good, thanks for your interest! - but I'll try to post an updated list for people soon. Issue is moving along.

I finally had a chance to ink this. I made the stretchy-cloudy shapes in more of a circle around the druid to reinforce the psionic part a bit more, rather than just trippy. Attachments:

I think that nobody grabbed the barbarian city - at least I hope not because I can't find it. If you did PM me or post here ASAP! Issue should be out Saturday!

One day I'll remember to ask for more information on what I'm drawing for. My swashbuckler is, funnily enough, using a buckler but I've just read Cal's character class write-up and see that swashbucklers can't use shields. Oh well, just think of my drawing as a ... errr ... class variant.

I'm always doing the same, ant. I recall one instance with a magical trumpet of some sort; I had a clear image in my mind of what the instrument looked like, so I drew that, only to discover that the description in the issue was completely different! No one seems to mind.

Ha, I am kinda feeling the same way. I made my "Adventurers Treating With Baboons" illustration with some rather generic looking D&D-looking characters, but the adventure article reveals itself for Stormbringer.
I should have Hawkwinded them up or something. More flanges on the armor or something. Oh well, at least I get to be a couple pages away from a Liz Danforth illo. That's good.
Issue #13 Looks great guys.
