Are there any decent illustrations of Pygmy Folk in any of the Tekumel games?
They are generally described as being not quite three feet tall, covered in fur, with bright black eyes, a long beakish snout, three-fingered hands, round ears, and a small stubby tail.
Now I'm sorry, but that's a perfect description of the freakin' muppet from the old TV series ALF (NOW we know where his race actually comes from!).

One good way to give others a good mental visualization of Pigmy Folk is to describe them as furry, avian-like (as opposed to reptilian-like) D&D 3rd kobolds with normal intelligence and the personality of a greedy dwarf, minus the honour (whew..)

So Alf then? Sadly, ALF does look a bit like one of the Pygmy Folk, at least in general shape. Their mouth/nose area is a bit more "beak-like" in appearance and their body hair isn't fuzzy or long, but there are definitely some similarities there.

I am SO gonna use a picture of ALF when my players come across a Pygmy Folk NPC. As far as I'm concerned, they are ALFs. Geekdom rocks! Doc

It is well-known that the language of the Pygmy Folk is that from which the name "Tekumel" is derived. Now, in Middle Pygmy, the name is actually "Melutek" but an entire generation of Pygmy Folk at the time was inflicted with dyslexia due to their tampering with an ancient device of a bygone age... hence "Tekumel" is really "Melutek".
Further, it is beyond dispute that the form "ut" in Middle Pygmy is merely a corruption of the sound "m" when appearing between "l" and a vowel. Hence, and this is corroborated by several surviving attestations, the true name of the world is "Melmek".
In the future of Melmek, long after the collapse of Tsolyanu, the original form will be employed by the now-dominant Pygmy Folk (owing to the influence of the Pygmy Movement of Superiority), albeit with a vowel corruption of the last syllable: "Melmak" or "Melmac". Their appetite for the Tiuni is well-known.
In the far future, G'rd'n Shu Mway of the Orbital Guard will be one of the last survivors of lost Tekumel, i.e. Melmac.
