I wonder if it's the same file I downloaded from DriveThru. The one I got was $11 also, and I found I can print it but not copy-paste from it into Word.

Finarvyn, it should be. DriveThru and RPGNow merged last year, and so they are carrying everything that used to be just on DriveThruRPG. One more thing - the reason why I did not attempt a text-scan of Empire of the Petal Throne is due to the diacritical marks - OCR hates that, preciousss. But I'm still thinking about it. If you have ideas, let me know.

Oh, I realize that all of the accent marks would make the OCR software freak out and I'm not really tech savvy enough to offer a clever solution to the problem. All I can say is that large chunks of the text would be readable by OCR and that would be a big help, or at least a step in the right direction.

I bought EPT this afternoon on RPRNow, printed it up and just finished reading it. All I can say is "WOW!!!"
Taking into consideration when EPT was written (1975) it is definitely at least a decade ahead of other RPGs. I have never really liked an RPG which uses the percentage system, but believe that EPT's is not only doable, it seems simplistically elegant. A lot like OD&D, yet uses OD&D as a workbook with which to create a unique RPG.
I never would have bought EPT without all of the discussion making me feel like I was missing out on something. Thanks to everyone who so highly rated EPT, it seems to be one of the best $11.00 spent in a long time.

Maybe I should be getting a cut of all of the PDF sales generated by these boards. Hmmm.

I still find my PDF version to be less than useful because I can't copy-paste sections of text. (It's just an electronic book, but I already have the paper book.) Just hoping that it gets OCR'ed someday....

I'm slowly working on this, though if enough people are interested in fixing things, maybe this could get farmed out. I'd be happy to add a contributors page and see what else could be done to recognize and reward volunteers.

Badger, send me some chapters and I will do the necessary. Send me any spelling and style notes (US spellings I take it, accents or no accents, approved sources of Tsolyani spellings etc.).

I'd be willing to help out with this project if it meant I would get a text file when it was all done.
