Good to know. I will be at a wedding tomorrow, so I'll be a bit delayed. But look for an update shortly.

I'll be out of town next week. So, if you were waiting for me to be unavailable, now's your chance. =

The beginning of the semester has been a little rocky, but I'm back. To make this a little easier and predictable, I will be posting on Fridays and Mondays; we can adjust this if the pace picks up.
Would you all like to have a caller? Please let me know - it might make it easier if people haven't responded or are busy.

I'm not sure how a "Caller" would be more effective than "GM Fiat" in a PbP game. At a table with everyone able to speak quickly to each other (and try to change their actions randomly) it works but in a written format where there is delay, it just turns into a 2 player game with audience feedback. Not a "Bad Thing" just not everyone's "cup of tea".
I suggest the GM select a reasonable choice and move forward if there is no response by the established days. =

Okay - no caller; I will therefore move things along. I've gotten things sorted out and we will have another player joining us this week.

In looking over my IC post, I wonder if it needs clarification. Kimesh was in the second rank if we walked double-file. We're single file, which makes him either third or fourth, depending on where the torchbearer who walks beside him is. I suspect the torch needs to be closer to the first two players, so I think Kimesh will have to take a half-step back behind the torchbearer, and try to bring his spear to bear forward if things work out that way. At the same time, he'll try and check around him now and then to make sure they aren't also attacked from the rear, sides, above or below. With his spear, he may be able to make a difference in any case!

We are being attacked from behind, also. Not sure which way you should provide support or which gives the best line of attack for your spear.

Apologies. I ended up misplacing my notes about this corner of my campaign. I just found them, so we can continue. However, I have a lot to do this afternoon, and will have a new post by tomorrow.

Alright. Here's what I have: a single-file marching order up the staircase. Mottan Kogush Batikan Jaru (torchbearer) Nyara Kemul (torchbearer) Kimesh

Round One:
Initiative. Party=1, Monsters=6; Monsters attack first.
Mrur #1 in back = 15; Kimesh is hit; taking 6 points of damage. Mrur #2 in front = 20; 2nd roll 2. Mottan is critically hit, taking 12 points of damage.
Kimesh = 7; a miss. Mottan = 18; does 9 points of damage to his Mrur.
If Kimesh has taken more damage than he has hit points, there is a possibility of healing him before he completely expires. There are other Mrur past the two that immediately attack.

Hello Badger, I wonder if you would mind explaining the combat outcome for my education?
Did Mrur #2 roll two six sided dice for damage and scored 6s on both... or did it roll a single die and score a 6, which was then doubled?

I also am confused on how the Mrur and Mottan can reach each other. (At the risk of being dead, I thought Kogush was the logical target of the attack and that Mottan is far out of range.) =

Did Mrur #2 roll two six sided dice for damage and scored 6s on both... or did it roll a single die and score a 6, which was then doubled? The latter. Which I now realize is a borrow from D&D, rather than the rule in EPT, which is to double the number of dice rolled. We'll follow the EPT system from now on.

I know I asked each of you for your intention, but I probably should have made it clear that Mottan did the noble thing and was at the front of the line.

FYI, Kimesh had 4 hit points, so having taken 6 points of damage, he falls.
I am totally fine with him expiring, if the fates have decreed so. In that case, I would hope to be able to bring in another character.

I know out GM has a lot on his plate right now, plus the added burden of the death of a friend.
