Oh, there is no doubt that it would work. My point is that it wouldn't occur in a "vacuum" and that the repercussions would get ugly, fast.
In Tekumel you don't just have to worry that they had a brother or father. You can bet thay have an entire clan and most likely associated clans. Now if you have amazing wealth, you _might_ get away with it by paying _everyone_ off.
Also you might be able to convince any witnesses that it was a "Matter of Honor". Of course people would have to think that _you_ had honor to start with.
Then again it really depends on where you were. If you were in "the Underworld", too bad for him. ;D
You have heard the saying, "What happens in the Underworld, stays in the Underworld".
(In my version anyway.) =

interesting posts. the one about Pechano being more D&Dish is really right on the money. That goes for Salarvya also. Prof Barker stated that you could drop a D&D player into Salarvya and except for the strange words they'd be right at home due to the fact that its a very fudal society and Pechano is as well. I find it interesting that I am listed as a flunky but have been in Tekumel for 32years.

I played in an online (PBC) EPT/Tekumel game the year before last and while it was very enjoyable, it was quite slow paced. The GM did a great job getting the atmosphere across, but the action was too slow for me. I felt it needed more combat. I had come in on a game that was already in progress and I think the other players preferred the role playing and drama rather than combat. Thanks (bows). Hey Rhu! Good death songs were sung for your scout after he died in dark tunnels under the clanhouse fighting mutant apes wielding crude but very effective weapons. Sorry things didn't work out for you, I know the time of day wasn't that good for you either. Most of the group weren't in the beginning and I do my best to integrate new players but sometimes that doesn't work out so well or may take too long. T:EPT combat is extremely lethal and healing magics and items just aren't present as much as in D&D. Combat's best avoided unless you have to fight or you're pretty sure you can get the drop on the bad guys. That being said, I love a good combat and try to put in at least one combat a session or at worst every other session. Doesn't always happen and I think that soon after you started we hit a consolidation phase after arriving in the big city Khirgar. I know you were in for the flying worm attack on the marching legion but I'm pretty sure you missed either during or after your tenure (off the top of my head): - the ritual battle before the castle including units of magicians hurling spells at each other and the soldiers between them
- duel to the death on the sand of the arena
- the grueling fight with masked killer priests before in and after the time portal to the past and then giant robot attacks
- the various attacks on the clanhouse in Khirgar
- fighting off a treacherous ambush in the Temple of Dra the Uncaring
- investigating books in the library of Lord Thumis, God of Wisdom turned into a bookcase toppling and hurling match against wizards and Devourers of Eyes
- the possessed hermaphrodite assassin fight / exorcism beyond space & time in the Temple of Stability during which the reincarnated living relic of Blind Hra sacrificed himself
- two or three Underworld expeditions (including subway fights with various undead, overtaking a caravan of male chauvinist slavers trying to escape across the border with ill-gotten loot which ended with a savage fight against crossbowmen and a giant acid spewing lizard then fleeing with the loot and rescued slaves from Ssu!)
- the orbital laser attack near the Blue Fish Gate of the 1st ward of Khirgar
- the desperate fight under the on fire temple of the God of Undeath against the Big Bad
Currently the clansibs are in transit from somewhere deep under Khirgar in the beam of a techno-magical transmat guarded by an ancient giant robot. Going who knows for certain with half a class of school-kids from a rival Dark clan. That after several encounters with Underworld monsters and a floor trap, including a Whimperer that took over and took on the form of the schoolteacher. And the Ursuper is likely back from wherever, First Wife is due to show up (for revenge) anydaynow, and the legion is due to go on the move again. I'm predicting more combats to come.

Sorry, I saw this post a few weeks ago and forgot to come back. Been weirdly busy lately and following some of my New Year's resolutions - to read more fantasy, get back to miniature painting and read more D&D stuff (and thus, stay offline). Anywho, you're game was really excellent as is the EPT world and maybe some day we can game at a CON or something. Hopefully you and all of our other friends here can make it to the LGGC or Winter Dark in Lake Geneva. Man wouldn't it be awesome if Barker could attend?? ;D
