Here's a quick and exceedingly easy spaceship combat system derived from the S&W Whitebox rules for use as a beer and pretzels game or to resolve space battles in old school RPGs where such a situation might occur. This one is for the wargaming-challenged (me), and is unapologetically 2D and essentially science-free, so hard SF gamers be warned. The rest of you, feel free to check it out and if so inclined leave some feedback here. This is a warts-and-all playtest version, so suggest away. If interest warrants, I'll produce a slicker, fully illustrated version with more (and graphically superior) counters. Haven't played it, only read through the document. Looks like a good start! My house-rules would involve making it less deadly, as well as providing some additional ways to make it feel different than a standard combat. Maybe differentiate armor into a lower-AC-path and a damage-reduction-path. Reduce weapon damage and add status effects. Change movement from squares to a handful of abstracted range bands. Maybe figure out some way to have PCs abilities play a role in giving bonuses/penalties to ship performance.
The attractive counters are a nice bonus.

Thanks, crusssdaddy. I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and comment. I think I'll pull down the files and send it back to the lab where I'll either make some serious revisions or allow it to languish in its incompletedness. If anyone has put off downloading the rules and counters and still wishes to do so, act fast!
