I just reread this old thread on ENWorld about the so-called Gygaxian Monsters. Now there has been alot of talk about the monsters from Supplement II and which of those are from Arneson, but besides those, do we have a list of which monsters in D&D in general that are from Arneson? -Havard

Not meaning this to be a compleate list at all, but Gargoyle and Black Pudding (or Grey) are definetly Arneson's babies.

I have also heard from a somewhat reliable source that Arneson was the first to diversify dragons, varying them in size, making some intelligent, able to cast spells etc...

The FFC does present Snider's detailed rules and variations for Dragons, but it doesnt mean he was the first to make the kind of variations I mentioned. In any case it seems clear that we are talking about a development that happened in the Arneson group... -Havard

I have a recollection of a thread somewhere in which someone assumed that if a monster was in Dungeon! that it would have been in the early Blackmoor campaign as well. Is that a sound assumption?

Yes, if you are refering to the old monster list that included brown dragons.
