I got a nice little DS game called The Dark Spire for Christmas. The game takes a cue from games like Wizardry or Swords and Serpents in that it is a straight up dungeon crawl. The system the game uses is pretty much OD&D in nature ( with Descending AC). It has become a bit of an addiction in trying to get tough enough to take on the higher levels in the dungeon. ( My characters are 3rd level and are getting creamed on the second level of the dungeon). One really neat feature is that you can set the game to a classic mode where it looks and sounds like a classic game. If you have a DS this is worth tracking down.

My son was just asking about a game like this that he could get for his DS, he loved DnD. I will have to go out and see if I can find it today! Thanks!!

You and your son may be fighting over it.

You and your son may be fighting over it. LOL! Possibly but I tend to stay with the pencil and paper stuff, my hands are just to big to handle those smaller DS controls! Give me my Xbox and I'm very happy!! Thanks again!

Check ebay; I was there last night and there were several (including some 'buy it now').
Just make sure to get the manual, too -- some were for just the cartridge.
And as far as the tiny controls go, that's why I have the DSiXL. XL is for eXtra Large. (And hey, it spells out D SIX -- how could I pass that up?)

Got my copy today. Although it didn't say so in the listing, it did come with the soundtrack CD.
Mine cost $16, including shipping. But I've saw one sell for $45! Some people just don't shop around, I guess...

Here is a nice wiki on the game. It is useful to understand the system and how things work. I am not using the hints provided just yet, I usually wait until my first or second play through of a game for that. I have also noticed that you could snag some of these ideas for OD&D very easily...

It is a very fun game. It brings back memories of all the hours I spent playing the Wizardry series by Sir-tech.
Unfortunately, I don't own a DS myself, so i have to borrow my daughter's when i want to play it. I must admit it's a very surreal experience playing an old school dungeon crawl on a shocking pink Nintendo DS. ;D
