I was amused by the typo "Hoblins" on p. 29, and was surprised to find that there are real hoblins out there: www.wildlifeservices.co.uk/Hoblins.html ;D They sure don't look like the vicious manslayers we're accustomed to, but rather whimsical and less bellicose.

Thread necromancy, while I was searching something else. In my current project, I sumarize all my campaigns from the last 28 years into a coherent world. Among problems to solve, I had two species of 'halflings', one being the classical hobbit, the second one being the 3.X ferret-like halfling. I went with two names : halfings and hoblins.

I have only one kind of Hobbits: They’re called Hobbits, and they’re just like the Hobbits from The Hobbit.

I have only one kind of Hobbits: They’re called Hobbits, and they’re just like the Hobbits from The Hobbit. It's really only a question if they are good hobbits or bad hobbits. From what I understand, one is harder to break.
