Has anyone tried having the players be stranded space travelers instead of newly arrived barbarians?
How did that work? =

I wonder, would it be like the Planet of the Apes or an episode of Star Trek?

More like John Carter on Mars actually.

More like John Carter on Mars actually. I was thinking of just this today. The only downside is that it woudl be a bit difficult to justify PC magicians.

Newly arrived PC's would start acclimating to the new world and start realizing that they are attuned to the energies and vibrations of this realm... (or some such nonsense)

(or some such nonsense) This is exactly the nonsense I use for magic on my "lost continent", where PCs are very often strangers from another land, stranded on the LC. No players have ever complained!

Or, I suppose, you could have magic be psychic in nature and say that the guy's latent potential was realized due to the presence of Psychonium or Naked Princesses or whatever.
