In addition to the obvious choices: Erol Otis & Russ Nicholson, might I suggest for inspiration: Alex Nino! Here's an example of his work (I first saw this in Weird Wars back when I was a kid and it's always stuck with me): www.alanguilan.com/museum/alexnino05.htmlWhat other artists or works of art say Carcosa to you?

Hey cool, I saw Huth on Planet Algol too. I also was turned on to Fat Cotton fatcotton.blogspot.com/ there as well. He's got that Otis surreal and strange vibe without aping the style. I'm partial to some of the older pulp illustrators when looking for graphic Carcosa inspiration. Sidney Sime, Virgil Finlay (his black and white stuff mostly), Aurthur Rackham, and Wallace Smith. The Golden Age Comic Book Stories blog has images by a few of these guys. Check them out. There's an artist listing on the left side. goldenagecomicbookstories.blogspot.com/
