I'm just starting out and the characters in the party are all level one. They've got some magic items to give them an edge, but not much. I'm using Labyrinth Lord.
Anyways... it looks like I'll be able to run "The Singing Cave" from issue 9 pretty soon. (And the Mercenaries from issue 8 will be perfect to replace the ones that just got killed off....) Some of the other stuff isn't as clearly marked as far as appropriate levels and party sizes. Is there an index somewhere that lists all of the Fight On! adventures in terms of the level requirements...?

Where possible, I try to mark the optimum levels on the ones I’ve bookmarked for future use ( on my web site); but a lot of “old school” adventures don’t have optimum levels. You pretty much have to guess from your players’ level of skill (not character level, but player skill and interests) whether an adventure is something they’ll enjoy. And further, it’s often up to the players, based on the legends you provide, to gauge for themselves if they want to enter that dungeon or perhaps wait until later. I recently ran The Fell Pass (Dragon 32); the only “restriction” on level is that “the Dungeon Master should remind the players of the legend of the Pass if they should come upon it, so that they will have some idea of what they are getting themselves into.” There’s a possibility I’ll be running Caverns of Thracia soon—it’ll be up to the players if their characters go near it. What levels is it appropriate for? “The 1st and higher levels.” That narrows it down If I had to put a level range on it, I’d probably say “3rd to 8th”, but that’s still a wide range. I can say that first level characters will need some pretty smart players to survive it. That’s kind of the point of many of these older adventures that inspire Fight On!

I started Caverns of Thracia with freshly-rolled 3rd level PCs; this meant that they didn't have magic items which 3rd level guys in some campaigns might. I found that this worked fine for the upper caverns, but that there wasn't enough treasure for them to gain enough experience to face the challenges of the lower caverns. If I were running it again I'd use the starting rumor that a collector will pay 1d100 for Thracian artifacts, and seed the caverns with a lot more of such (using this to both get the history of the eras of the caverns across to the players, and also set up some town-dungeon interactions). As it was we did side treks into some other adventures incl. Dungeoneer's Merlin's Garden and Borshak's Lair, and came back with some PCs at 5th and 6th level - plus a number of abilities from magic items - to tackle the Beast Lord's palace.
My Caves of the Beast Mistress is written for similar levels, and was tackled by my PCs at 5th & 6th.

An index like that is a good idea - maybe for an upcoming issue, and also to post on the web for convenience! If anyone wants to start a draft of one in this thread, please go ahead. I know one of the old school blogs did some kind of index for several issues of knockspell and the first four or five issues of FO!, if anyone has a link.

My "Fungoid Gardens of the Bone Sorcerer" in issue #4 is for character levels 1-3.

That's great. Exactly what I wanted. Now I know what to buy next.... (But to make if perfect... you'd need one more column to list which game system it is designed for-- it's a little hard to fit heavy AD&D stuff into BECMI style gaming sometimes. Just a suggestion, though: I can survive without that nicety.)

The Fane of Salicia was designed for levels 5-7, given a modest party size.
