(The forum ate my very first post ...so here it goes again, though in abbreviated form.) Does the text of D@D divulge in detail the sources for each rule in the book or is the 'Arsonian influence' more "general gaming philosophy?" My first post (R.I.P.) was 100's of words longer, but I gotta get back to work. The author's elucidations will be most appreciated. ~~DD.

The individual rules are not annotated with source references, although there are several asides for comments from the author. Also, the rules represent a composite or crystallization of Dave Arneson's ever-changing rules from 1970-1973.

Yep, what Steve said. There are a couple of threads here that discuss spell sources, the combat system and mechanics, and I'd be more than happy to answer "where did that rule come from" questions.

Is there a place to go with any sample pages of D@D?
