jensen: I'm very impressed by how dynamic your drawings are. They always have a great feeling of energy and excitement. And this particular image shows your excellent sense of perspective and skill at foreshortening. Nice work!
celurian: That's great! As jensen says, very clever use of highlighting to show the trigger.
jasons: thanks, it takes a bit of practice but I find the graphics tablet a wonderful tool now.

Thanks, I have to say this is one of my favorite drawings I have done.

I thought I might try and show what the blue pencil process looks like, but it doesn't show up well, even in a colour scan. Which I suppose is the point. And here's what it looks like, inked and lettered:

Very, very cool, kelvingreen. Is there a special kind of pencil you use or just your bog standard blue colouring in pencil?

There are special blue line pencils, but I didn't want to shell out for one when I had a bunch of bog-standard blue pencils lying about. So I dug out all my colouring pencils and tested them through the scanner, and finding them to be more than adequate for the task, used them instead.
The one I've been using of late is a Berol Verithin Sky Blue 08, but it's easily over fifteen years old and probably isn't even in production any more.

To try and get things running again, here's a combat schematic for issue 11:

Here's a drawing I've only just submitted to Mr. Umlaut... Jensen: d**n fine work. ant: All the best, bro. Hope things are calming down.

Calithena, KelvinGreen, Ant: Thank you for all the kind words! ;D JasonS: Frickin' beautiful, man! I like the penguin's determined stance in the face of his duck adversary's flying leap-attack - so stoic. Exalt, coming your way! And while we're comparing ducks:

Even floods don't stop us from Fighting On! Still very rough but you may recognise one or two faces. Jasons that penguin is frickin' amazing!

Very cool, KG, as per usual. Bonus points for bubble helmet and scale trousers!

Thanks! I know that the bubble-helmet is technically anachronistic, but bubble helmets are cool, so what the heck.
Honestly, the best bit about what you said was the "as per usual" bit; I love being a regular part of Fight On!

It is interesting that people are posting all of this stuff for issue 11 in the issue 10 thread. No harm though. :-)

Brilliant stuff, particularly with the challenging perspective. Did you ink this with a brush? I'm quite fond of the chunky linework. I'm not sure why Doxy's looking so calm, as he's probably going to have to fix these guys up in a bit. Perhaps he's thinking of the money.

I ink digitally with my Intuos3 and Photoshop. The chunky linework has evolved considerably since I first contributed to Fight On! (Issue #2, I think). I'm not sure why Doxy's looking so calm, as he's probably going to have to fix these guys up in a bit. Perhaps he's thinking of the money. Bingo! I figured that Doxy would see this as more of a business opportunity. ;-)

What kind of brush setting do you use? It looks very natural, and I wouldn't have pegged it as digital. Yes, I think Doxy is definitely a proponent of private -- and expensive -- healthcare.

Thanks, coffee. kelvingreen: I actually don't use anything very special. Just the pencil tool with a hard round brush with the pen pressure set for size jitter. I get the effect by working over the lines with the pencil and erasure. It's a bit of effort but I am slowly getting a little more efficient (practicing big, confident strokes helps a lot). One thing that I am finding very helpful is having a good, solid sketch to work off. Previously I'd rush the sketch and then improvise during the inking. I still had to do that for this piece but not nearly as often.
