Sad, sad news indeed. Distant here, but still hits very close to home.
Thoughts and blessings to y'all, family, friends and acquaintances of Dave's; and with thanks for all the good stuff that he and those who played (and sailed) with him helped to inspire.

Mr Arneson made an enormous difference to our lives and our society : he gave us the gift of world creation and a new way of imagining things. My sincerest best wishes are with you at your time of loss. Thank you.

I think this is perfect. Over the weekend, the BBC posted a story about Mr. Arneson's passing and the comments afterward list tributes from all over the world. I think it's incredible. news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7994444.stm
