"Get It Right Back To Where We Started From" (from the bard Maxine the Nightingale)
The party had, at this point, decided to turn their attention away from Quasqueton and venture out to the City-State. The only thing keeping them in the borderlands was the possibility of finding Bethesda. With her turning up again, they could set their sights on cashing in the black sapphire. I didn't think they would leave the dungeon after only exploring seven or eight rooms within, but hey, it's a nice trade-off for giving the party the sense that they can do anything (or at least try) anything they want, and go where they want.

"In Search of the Unknown" Campaign Session #15:
Chapter 2 "In Search of the City-State of the Invincible Overlord"
They pass through scrubland, noticing a black stone structure some miles away. Delva believes it to the Monastery of Deliberation, and deciding to take a detour to investigate, they bribe the coachmen with a barrel of ale for their troubles.
After a few nervous moments deciding whether to leave their weapons behind as their host had asked, the party mostly does so, attempting to sneak a few small weapons with them. Witnessing the night meditation, some of the monks displayed notable feats. The tea tasted of ginger and cinnamon, and healed Tig of some damage.
After being shown to their rooms, Tig asked the host if the monastery had stronger drink. The host invited him for more, and the stronger stuff coursed through Tig's system, almost burning, but completely healing the remaining damage he had suffered in recent combat. Tig asked if he could buy the bottle, and the host replied he could if he would bring back the heads of any medusians or other beasts of chaos they encountered so they could better purge the land of taint.
The coach soon came to the village of Dudley. Voltron and Shaggy looked for half-orc "entertainers" for the coachmen, but found only the attention of the town watch. The party turned in early, as the small village was low on adventure.
Back on the road, the party found the paved byways made for faster travel. A family of wild boars caused them to pull up, as they decided to give them a wide berth. One piglet decided to lick Delva's boot until its mother nudged it back along the trail.
A few days later, the coach made into the town of Kirby, the place where the adventure started for the party. An Arabian merchant demanded that Delva pay him for the debt that Farned left behind, and stormed off when the elf refused. The merchant promised to tell everyone important in town about this insult.
Bethesda inexplicably purchased and wore a burka, and Delva decided to take her aside. Beth told him that she is indeed the niece of Lord Lancaster, but her full legal powers and rights will not take effect until her 21st birthday. (She is currently 19.)
Tig sold weapons and armor the party had acquired, and bought a set of splint mail and a great helm through a dwarven armorer who Silas helped find.
Shaggy and Voltron looked for a magic user to learn spells from, and despite becoming lost and followed for a while, eventually found their way to Waveny Park and Griffonwood Hall, home of Cristof the Inscrutable. Cristof performed a spell exchange, and the young wizard came away with but a loss of a single Strength point for his troubles.
Tig met a half-orc lady with a sign that read "Where is the Daddy?" She explained that a holy man of Isengad had impregnated her, and now no customers want to see a pregnant half-orc dancer. Out of pity and desperation, Tig gave her a gold piece and fled. They turned in for the night.
