My Carcosa campaign has recently come to an end. The final statistics are:
Out of the eight original characters, only two survived since the first session.
During the course of the campaign, fourteen player characters have been killed off. Many were slain in battle, but some of the more unusual deaths have included:
Being trampled by a T-Rex (a fourth level fighting man).
Going insane and exploding after Azathoth turned it's full undivided attention on him (sixth level sorcerer).
Being drawn and quartered by four Nameless Spawn (second level sorcereress).
Slipping from the deck of a ship into the lake surrounding Carcosa and being reduced mentally to infancy. And then drowning because she had forgotten how to swim (fith level fighting woman).
Being struck by the Nameless Priest and simply ceasing to have ever existed (fifth level fighting man).
Jumping from a window to escape an enraged gorilla, forgetting that the room was nine stories up (first level fighting man).
The two characters who had survived since the beginning were an 8th level white man sorcerer (known simply as "The Sorcerer") and an 8th level brown woman fighter (She-Wolf). Both are on their way to being major forces in the world. I'll mention a bit more about them later.
Carcosa has proven to be a great setting. A ruthless and unforgiving world packed with chaotic fun. Much like Call of Cthulhu, just surviving for any great period of time is an accomplishment.
