I was at a local used book store a few weeks back and I stumbled upon a trade paperback volume entitled Two-Gun Bob: A Centennial Study of Robert E. Howard. It was $15.00, but in new condition (may have actually BEEN new) so I bought it. It was published in 2006 by Hippocampus Press. It's edited by Benjamin Sumskyj and the first essay in it is by Michael Moorcock. I've been plodding through it as I have time (which is rarer than I'd like these days) and am really enjoying it. Instead of a biographical or pseudo-psychological study, the book looks at his writing, with essays on his contributions to travelogues, his mystery stories, an excellent essay on Post Oaks and Sand Roughs, his poetry...it really runs the gamut looking at the effect he had on fiction, and the influences on his own writing. If you ever get a chance to pick it up, I'd recommend it. Very good stuff.

I've seen it on e-bay occasionally and was interested but hated to buy it sight-unseen. Maybe I'll look again at it.....
