Brilliant fantasy author Robert Asprin passed away in his sleep last night at only 62. With the creation of Thieves World, Asprin became the heir apparant to the gritty urban skullduggery style of fantasy originated by Fritz Leiber. He also gave us the wacky, entertaining, and highly addictive Myth series that I have always referred to as "D&D: the Sitcom."
He will be greatly myth-ed.

And let's not forget Phule's Company, my favorite (although how can you really pick a favorite...) series of his.

I used to have pretty much all of his books and really enjoyed them. The MYTH series was my favorite. I had never really considered Thieves' World to be "his" because it was so collaborative, but it was a fun read as well. He will be missed. :-(

He hooked me with The Bug Wars when I was but a lad. A sad loss.
