Hello all,
I've been doing some digging through the available Blackmoor material and put together a spreadsheet with the creatures from the FFC. Since the sheet is sortable you can see relationships between HD, HTK, point cost from Chainmail etc... I'll start posting some images in a few minutes of the sheet.

Here are the creatures sorted by dungeon level and the mini-monster manual is at the end.

There are additional pages for the sort by dungeon level but that doesn't really tell us a whole lot. I can post up the rest of them if someone is interested. What is neat is when you sort by HD.

So the first thing that is noticeable is that HD in the FFC represents number of dice rolled either to hit or inflict damage.
HTK is not based on HD but sometimes falls within the possible range of HD. Neither HTK or HD are based off of the Chainmail cost.
Chainmail cost seemed to be worked in the the system of protection points for each room of the dungeon.
The creature encounter tables from UWA match with the creatures by dungeon level in Blackmoor leading me to think that those tables in UWA came from Blackmoor. Or where another area that was converted to for the levels to be used with ODD.
The creature list in MT on pg 4 match AC and HD with the Blackmoor dungeon monsters. I think that maybe this is what was meant by the Blackmoor levels being switched over the ODD style combat (in this case Chainmail)
The creatures generally match up with the Chainmail troop type and hit dice (dice for hitting things).

If you'd like I can send you pics or the spreadsheet just PM me. I need to add in the Chainmail cost column. That was cut out. I'll get the new pics up in the next hour or so.

Exalt! Will look more closely but nice piece of work, especially with the tie in to the 3LBBs. Welcome to Blackmoor Archaeology! One thing I think I saw was a listing for trolls at 75 points? They're pretty consistently listed at 15 points the Blacmoor dungeon IIRC.

Or where another area that was converted to for the levels to be used with ODD. Great find. They are practically a dead on match! Also the tables don't make much sense in the usual monster list terms with Evil Priests etc. There are even robots listed in the footnotes. These lists are definetly from Arneson.

Very useful. Thanks!
Looks like the LBBs need to be investigate further for more details on Blackmoor....

They're pretty consistently listed at 15 points the Blacmoor dungeon IIRC. One thing I've noticed is that creature cost bounce around in Blackmoor. Sometimes they follow the Chainmail point cost, other times the Blackmoor Protection Point/Magic Point cost. I'll try to sort this out a little better. Thanks for the catch on the Troll.

The creatures generally match up with the Chainmail troop type and hit dice (dice for hitting things). ara Hey Ara, did you notice any examples where they don't match? Other than Tarns, I assume that you got the Troop Types mostly from CHAINMAIL. Were there any other monsters with troop types you found in FFC that didn't have a CHAINMAIL troop type listed?

I'll get a list together this weekend. ara
