Watched The Sting again last night and now am re-inspired to run a Gangbusters game. Newman and Redford are amazing and it's too bad they didn't make more movies like this. (I know that Jackie Gleason and Mac Davis did a Sting II, but I don't remember it being anywhere as good as the original.) My son liked it as well, but this poses a problem for me. A "con man" style game would seem to require a lot more advanced planning and scripting than many of the other common plots for a Gangbusters game. Anyone run a "con" style adventure, and any suggestions that could make my life easier?

If you run this, PLEASE let me know -- I've been dying to play Gangbusters since buying it off Ebay.

I never had much luck with scripting in RPGs. I allowed events to flow, and resolved any problems with dice rolls. Percentage rolls works well modified by appropriate skill/ability scores. Original design used street/political contacts frequently to provide true or false information.
Fin, I wish you well in your Sting project. I'd love to hear what you come up with.
All the best

Fin, I wish you well in your Sting project. I'd love to hear what you come up with. Yeah. I wish myself luck, too, since I really don't know what I'm going to come up with, either. Nice to see that you still lurk here, Rick!

Fin, every day, I'm grateful to be lurking anywhere. Due to the extreme intuitive nature of my personality, my best work is done off the top of my head. To quote Nike, "Just do it". But, alas, I am dealing with one of those methodical Physics people Remember those digital pictures from years ago ? Where the less you focused your eyes, the clearer the image became. Just jump into the adventure and splash around. Resolve situations with percentage dice rolls or even one of those black magic balls. Just remember Krebs' law: The one rule, to rule them all, is to please, have fun. All the best

Resolve situations with percentage dice rolls or even one of those black magic balls. Man, I might have to replace my d30 rule now...
