Just for fun, imagine walking into your FLGS and picking up this book off the shelf! The "ransom note" effect of TSR's varying fonts was difficult to recreate, I hope this looks convincing. Enjoy!

I'd bought a printed copy, but if I'd purchased the pdf I'd be tempted to use this as the cover.

Nice! For the D&D title did you use Quentin or Outlaw? (q.v. my "Homemade LBBs" thread) For the "Carcosa" title, check out this free font called Nauert, it looks like a pretty accurate clone of Chisel, the original title font for the supplements: www.fontspace.com/david-rakowski/nauertFor further matching the style of Greyhawk and Blackmoor, I would set "ADDITIONAL" in the italic version of the font you've got (Bodoni?) and shrink it a bit; ditto for "Supplement V", more or less, and delete the colon. You could also set the "Rules for Fantastic etc." in Times New Roman Bold, and the same thing for "GEOFFREY MCKINNEY". The publisher's byline on the supplements reads "Published by TSR Rules" in Times New Roman Bold (or something close), but if you were to change that, then for completeness' sake you would also have to recreate the lizardman logo, or maybe the little wizard guy. I acknowledge that this post is possibly a little nuts.

I Used Quentin Caps. Thanks for the advice on the other fonts. I may redo the "cover" to use the information you provided.

If you're going to do it, Cameron, my vote is for the lizardman logo! ;D I've got a nicely cleaned up scan of the little lizard man, so I think I can accomodate you. I also noticed the last three lines on the cover of the LBBs were offset right center because of the logo. I'll fix that in the next version, too.

Okay, here is attempt #2. The picture is a bit more low-rez because I used my desk top publishing program to do the mock up instead of Paint Shop Pro (the program I used for the first one). This means I can easily take future suggestions into account, so if you have any good advice to give, let's hear it! I then produced a PDF of the result and did a screen grab. The screen grab just isn't as sharp as the images PSPro produced. This piece is to be considered fan art only, a loving tribute to both TSR and Geoffrey McKinney's "Carcosa" and is, in no way, a challenge to the copyright or IP or either party. Permission is extended to any and all to use this art as desired. This includes editing, altering, or posting to other public forum. If you want a PDF of this cover, or the MS Publisher files, contact me using my screen name, adding gmail, a period, and com. Changes: - almost all the fonts.
- changed the GK logo to the lizard man
- darkened the purple used in the title
- offset the "published by..." block text to match original LBBs
- additional touch ups to McKinney's Carcosa painting

Sweet. I'd love a dead-tree version with that cover! The lizard man puts it over the top!

Instead of the lizardman, maybe a randomly-rolled Spawn of Shub.
