Is there a specific Board for questions about this board? Maybe I'm being stupid, but I can't find it.
I have two questions (one of them trivial):
1. Why is the text in the quotes so much tinier than the normal text? This is a serious readability issue for me.
2. I used to have 1 Karma, now I have 0. Does it wear off? Just curious.

I dunno about the board about the board - general discussion might be it - but to answer your questions (in a totally unofficial capacity as I am not in any way 'offiical': 1. the parameters in quoting are set by the proboards software - I don't think there's a way to alter it, and 2. users can smite to take karma away. they never seem to announce *why* they decided to do this, unlike the usual exaltation...
I'll see if I can't come up with a hack on the quoting thing...

I was wondering about that.
The "smite" function was removed a while back. People were, as you said, not saying why they used it. And there were a few personal attacks that go quite against the spirit of the forum. So it was removed, after much discussion.
That was the only way I knew how Karma could go down. So I'm at a loss.

unfortunately, there's still a way for users to do it.

unfortunately, there's still a way for users to do it. I was wondering about that, because I only see an "Exalt" button and I registered after the "Smite" button was taken away. I can't imagine why I was smitten though. :-)

As far as font size goes, I think it's a Proboards thing. What I do is to tinker with the font size of my entire screen, since my vision is so lousy. ---------------- I gave you a Karma point, just to get you back off of zero. As far as I know it doen't "wear off" with time. unfortunately, there's still a way for users to do it. I'm curious how this can be done, because as far as I know everyone has "Exalt" only and no "Smite." I think there is an Admin function where I can edit someone's Karma, but I think I have to actually go into someone's profile in order to find it. If there is a secret way to do this, PM me. I'd rather not advertise any way around the Karma rules by having it posted.....

The font size within a quote can be changed by highlighting the text and clicking the font size button (a black capital A with a vertical double ended arrow to its right) either when writing the post, or afterwards when modifying it. Works a treat.

I just wrote a Greasemonkey script to edit the .quote class of the embedded stylesheet and applied it to odd74.proboards.com/*:var link = window.document.createElement('link');link.rel = 'stylesheet'; link.type = 'text/css'; link.href = 'data:text/css, .quote { font-size: 12px; color: #000000; background-color: #f6f6f6; }'; document.getElementsByTagName("HEAD")[0].appendChild(link);
Edit the size of the font to taste.

Can someone explain to me exactly how to use that script?
Speak slowly and use very small words.

Can someone explain to me exactly how to use that script? Speak slowly and use very small words. Google "firefox greasemonkey" or something to that effect. You should get a link to download the Greasemonkey Firefox Add-On. Install it (this should be simple). Open up your favorite text editor (perhaps Notepad), copy/paste the script into it, and save it as "quote.user.js" (Make sure Windows doesn't try to call it "quote.user.js.txt" or some crap like that!) Open the file you just created with Firefox. A pop-up box will appear, so just tell it to install the script. Okay, now in Firefox go to Tools/Add-Ons (or whatever) and select Preferences under the Greasemonkey extension. Select the quote script and add "http://odd74.proboards.com/*" to the include list. Reload any page on the forum and the quote blocks should by default have text size 12. To change the text size, just edit your file you created to have different size. You'd probably need to reinstall the script. I'm assuming you could add other forums to the list, but make sure you include the asterisk so it works on any page. Hopefully that helps, and if not, please tell me where I'm being unclear.

That works, thanks! I have GreaseMonkey installed, but I've always used canned scripts and I've never had to do that before. Thanks again!
Exalt!

Apparently many of you are clever enough to figure this out. I never even thought to look for a way around the programming. [stern Admin voice] Um ... maybe you can refrain from using the SMITE? Please? [/stern Admin voice]

I have a slight suspicion about how they're doing it, but I see no point in testing my theory. I never smited people when we had the ability by default.
