I do not know if one is needed but if anyone has used these rules and has something to offer we can start here. I greatly enjoy this book as it is nearly 50% writing and 50% charts. No fluff! If there is nothing of particular interest about these rules perhaps you can list/describe an army you have created or used.

I have Swords & Spells but never got very interested in the rules. I guess I figured that I'd play Chainmail or OD&D and somehow S&S seemed to duplicate what I found elsewhere.
As far as a forum for Swords & Spells, I see a couple of potential solutions: 1. There could be little interest and nothing happens. 2. S&S posts could be placed in the Chainmail section, since they're both TSR miniatures rules sets. 3. I could create a S&S forum of its own.
I guess I'll see if anyone has any thoughts on this before I do anything....

Hm, if this is all that has been said regarding S&S, it probably doesn’t need its name in the forum title! Though S&S discussion relating to miniature large-scale warfare would still be welcome here as much as anywhere else. Again, just a thought. Regards.

I'd suggest posting on it as desired but here if it's for miniature games stuff, or one of the OD&D sections if it's for that. If there are eventually enough posts, *then* a S&S forum.
Had Chainmail back in the day but not this. Since Chainmail precedes OD&D and is more of a separate game I can more justify it having a separate forum than S&S which seems more like a OD&D supplement (the OD&D miniatures game?). Same reason why I see no need for the somewhat similar Legions of the Petal Throne. It's the EPT miniatures game.

S&S was a fascinating rules mechanism for its time, everything decimalized, and I think the first miniatures game to differentiate different types of fighting styles (well, weapons) by assigning different widths to each type of figure
Problem is that in the points system, Orcs are free, after you figure the deductions.
Wish I could get some people interested in playing Chainmail though. At an HMGS con would be great.

Wish I could get some people interested in playing Chainmail though. At an HMGS con would be great. While it's not technically an HMGS con, CapCon (?) in OSU / Columbus, Ohio usually has some local HMGS presence & I remember there being a pretty big Chainmail battle there. They used index cards to hide the units which while neat, kinda spoiled the look of the battlefield. Imagine a big table in a college student hall, covered with terrain, buildings and figures...AND INDEX CARDS. Offhand, since it's a historical historical game I see no reason why someone couldn't run a game of Chainmail at an HMGS con.
