Wendy Carlos is a (transmission garbled) genius.

Nice list, delve! Schulze, Popol Vuh, T. Dream, et al are all in the game-night stereo rotation at my house. "Kosmische musik" is perfect for gaming imho; such eerie, mystic, otherworldly atmospheres to be heard...

Great topic. If I could only pick one to add to this list it'd be Robert Rich. He makes these long atmospheric ambient tracks utilizing natural sounds to great effect. Very dreamy. And +1 to Wendy Carlos.

It might be a bit too video-game inspired for some people's tastes, but I've had a lot of fun with Jay Tholen's music at the game table. www.jaytholen.net/

When I started our current campaign I played the entire Ministry discography. That got everyone excited.

When I started our current campaign I played the entire Ministry discography. That got everyone excited. If it was With Sympathy, Twitch and Land of Rape and Honey that would be cool. Any of the others...no thanks. Their later stuff is really boring and dry to me. Never much cared for Nurse With Wound either. If I'm gonna dig into the more experimental early stuff, I s'pose it'd be Test Dept. But I'm more into the electro side of industrial. I'd save my Clock DVA, Chemlab, SMP, 16 Volt, Haujobb, PTI, mind.in.a.box, PIG, Christ Analogue, Hate Dept. and the like for playing Cyberpunk 2020 or something. D&D and T&T and such? Bo Hansson. Other than that, it's various soundtracks. As much as I love Rush, Yes, Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep and so forth, the lyrics are too distracting, especially to me. Not a good thing when tryin' to referee.

Yeah, I don't like to have lyrics in my gaming music either.
There's this band I like called Alderach*, but I can't seem to find their website. They do really cool Celtic-type music. Not like Enya's stuff though. I'm talking war music with drums and bagpipes.
*I might be spelling the name wrong.

Those were in the rotation. The best were the various 12" singles with remixes. That's where things got really interesting.

Psalm 69 isn't that bad. Hell, it is better than With Sympathy.
Clock keeps ticking away....

That was the basic sentiment of my players, but being the completist that I am, I put everything into rotation.

Psalm 69 isn't that bad. Hell, it is better than With Sympathy. Clock keeps ticking away.... Oh, I don't think it's bad. Metal or metal-styled industrial just bores me. It hasn't been interesting to me in a very long time. I like With Sympathy a lot, but I pretty much only ever listen to stuff off Twitch and a couple of tracks on Land of Rape and Honey. I've too much stuff that's more enjoyable to my taste for the more electro side of industrial.
