I thought it was a great issue, but there hasn't been much discussion yet. I think the lulu printing/shipping problems dampened things a bit. But anyway, those problems are over, and I know the issues are out there - what did you think? Favorite articles? Stuff you'd like to see developed? Format changes? Anything else?

I haven't read it cover to cover yet, but the articles I did take the time to read are good. In particular I liked:
Lee Barber's Tomb of Ixtandraz Paul Vermeen's Dungeon Motivations Calithena's Darkness Beneath
I already know I'll enjoy much more, including Gabor's always excellent contributions, but I haven't devoured it all yet.
Tony Dowler's dungeon drawing blew me away.
Judd Karlman's Seven King Mountains looks good, and I have a post it note there to remind myself to go back and check it out.

I really liked It used to be a hobbit hole; it was perfect in its own way. Likewise with Dungeon motivations - "character is an organism genetically engineered for dungeon crawling", indeed. And a whole lot more. Pygmy folk. Modules. Etcetera. There was a very good mix of article types, I think - from the quirky to the immediately usable, from adventures to stuff, etc. May we never see any worse.

Cool stuff.
Both of you have mentioned Dungeon Motivations. I think if you were sitting down to do a con dungeon and wanted to add some roleplaying to the tactical exercise, you couldn't do much better than to have everyone roll on that chart. Props.

I wrote about it briefly on my blog when I got it ( quietdayinheimdall.blogspot.com/2009/05/fight-on-5-my-ad-alignment-spread.html). I (too) thought that Dungeon Motivations was awesome - the song of the swanmay also. I have not yet gone back and read the adventures at length, but I did immediately read Seven Kings Mountains and it is very very good - great detail w/o being 'too much', and the Carcosan monsters were very appealing. Weird month - didn't get around to reading it more in depth yet.

I think the beginning of summer and the lulu problems have led to issue 5 not getting as much attention as it deserved. It's a great issue!
(By the way, there's no way to know what 'causes' sales, but other than the giant surge of the March contest, which I think we mostly drove through relentless promotion (helped by many of you), many of the sales spikes I've noticed seem to correlate to reviews on rpg.net, Grognardia, Jeff's Gameblog, and enworld, in about that order. Also when Mearls mentioned issue 1 on his blog way back when that got us some attention. But again, I have no way to infer causality from any of this, and those events happened simultaneously with many others, so who knows.)
Anyway, sales don't matter so much as our having fun with it. So I want to hear about what people enjoyed reading and what they enjoyed using!
I would anticipate a July release for issue 6 at this point, thanks to our great artists. So maybe people will discover both issues at the same time.
By the way, it's now been more than a month since any printing problems were reported by lulu. So maybe the kinks have been worked out finally? I'm convinced it was the new printing site in England that generated most of the problems, both for us and Knockspell, although there were a couple in the US too, so who knows. Let's hope it's over for good.

Cal, it's been an insane few months for me so I still haven't sampled every morsel from Issue #5 however I am going to jump on the bandwagon and sing my praises for It used to be a hobbit hole and Dungeon Motivations. Immensely enjoyable to read and also very practical (I'm planning on using Dungeon Motivations for my pregen characters for my OD&D game at Gencon Oz this year).
Your Darkness Beneath is also superlative.
Currently Issue #5 is looking like being my favourite issue so far.

I have more feedback: this issue rocks!
I have been proud of our work all the way through, but I really think we've taken some things to a new level in the last couple of issues. Anyway, good job to everyone who worked on #5 - I still feel like this one got lost in the summer break a little bit.

Kesher uses Dungeon Motiations in his game. Last time, we had a new guy and he go "Has a thing for hot Underdark chicks." Didn't come into play much, but we had a good laugh about it.
