So here's a chance for some of you to dust off some of those stories I know you have lying around and publish them for fame and glory!
I'm also going to advertise this on fiction websites. If any of you can recommend sites to advertise this contest, please tell me about them or just post it there (verbatim) yourself!

We don't have celebrity judges for this one. It's Ig and a few other people associated with the magazine. That said, we do plan to promote the collection as best we can, and in some venues that Fight On! doesn't yet normally reach.
I find it hard to talk about criteria when it comes to fiction, other than uninformative ones like 'the best'. We'll be looking for the most interesting and thrilling tales that best express the general S&S vibe the collection's about, is maybe the best way to put it. So: literary merit, visceral stimulation, and fidelity to genre-vibe, as judged by our little crew. I hope that helps a little!

I like 10,000 words better than 1,500 Maybe another Driv'n story with a chance to flesh it out a bit ...

Hang on, the official announcement says: But then your quoted post clearly suggests, if nothing more, then certainly at least a strong personal preference for S&S as a judge. So which one is it: is the official announcement misleading, because in practice S&S submissions will enjoy an advantage; or was it a Freudian slip revealing that you will be a genre-biased judge?

Don't want to be mysterious here. We have a broad conception of S&S, is all, that would include most of that other stuff.
If you have lots of good fantasy stories just submit them all, I guess, and then you won't have to worry whether they 'fit' or not. If you have a question about a particular story you're thinking of writing you can go ahead and send it in. Hope that helps!

Greetings! Will cyberpunk-style pieces be accepted for this? Think cybernetically enhanced dragons. Also, will it be extremely tough to get a piece on the upper word limit (nearly 10k words) accepted? Thanks!

Yes, still alive, and there have been a lot of great submissions! Cyberpunk stories are at the edge of what we'd consider, depending on content and tone, but there's no harm in submitting them! Thanks for your interest in any case.

I might write an expanded bit of Chalk & Koram fiction from the blog. Those two scoundrels have received good reviews.

Is there any way to confirm a) if my entry has been received?, and b) if the subject matter was close enough to count for this? I thought it would, in sort of a “Weird Tales” way, but I wasn’t sure. I emailed it a couple of weeks ago.
I’m really looking forward to this!

Didn't Ig email you about your story, zachary? I'm pretty sure we got it. We haven't done much review yet, since stories are still coming in.

I didn't see one. I think I sent it right around when he was on vacation, perhaps? If you think you got it, I won' worry. If there's any doubt, I can happily resend, but I don't want to clutter up any inboxes, either.

I've been pounding away (trying to do at least 1 page a day) on a pulp science fantasy novel, but maybe I'll take a break for a few days to write something for Weird Enclaves and Black Pits.
Great title btw.

Deadline today! Send 'em if you got 'em!
(Although, it's my birthday, and there's going to be a lot of champagne, so if stuff showed up by about noon tomorrow it would still get taken.)

How many stories were subbed for this, and when do you expect final decisions to be made?
*is over-eager*
